You complete and utter ******!

Just had my MCS for a year now (16th June to be exact) and have managed to avoid any major mishap within 28,000 miles...until Friday afternoon!
Driving through Slough, I stopped in a queue at traffic lights, but a mobile phone salesman decided it would be a good idea to test the front end of his '04 Golf TDi against the rear of my car! We'd been driving along at 10mph between junctions for the last 10 minutes, so it wasn't a sudden stop.
Not very impressed with his decision, I let him know what I thought of him.
When I actually looked at my car, I was stunned to see that there was no obvious damage - I was expecting to find broken mouldings and lights at least!
Closer inspection revealed creasing to the bumper on the RHS, so there may be some internal damage to impact zones.
It is due in for it's 2nd service next month, so I will get this sorted then.

Will a BMW bodyshop require me to pay the excess, or will they obtain that from the Phones4u guy?

What utterly bad news -- I feel for you buddy, and hope the damage is not too bad and everything is sorted out quickly.

I think you will pay the excess and then have to claim it back from the muppet who ran into you.

I agree, I think you have to cough up and then reclaim it...

Sorry to hear about your damage... I thought I had a lot of miles on my year old MCS with 22k....

Sorry to hear about your mishap.

Very same thing happened to me a month ago. Some lady rear ended me as I was waiting for a light to turn green. She just came right into me without stopping. I felt and heard a lot of noise and thought it was the end of the rear.

On inspection ... same thing ... just some crease to the chrome rear bumper molding (which I just replaced this weekend for $60) ... I guess all the noise I heard was all the loose junk in my boot.

These little buggers hold up well ...

You might want to check underneath the number if you havent already... my dad had a noisy bump that seemed to cause little damage... but when you looked underneath the bumper when it was removed there was some damage to the metalwork....

worth checking so it doesnt bite you in the ass later in the ownership....

After someone rear ended my car last year I was put in touch with Helphire. I told them which repair shop I wanted to take the car to, they arranged for a hire car to be collected from there while mine was being fixed. I didn't pay them anything not even my excess. They claim all costs from the other driver because it was clearly his fault.

Here's their website http://www.helphire.co.uk/

He didn't deny it when I asked him, but he didn't admit it either.
He certainly didn't have a hands-free kit installed - I looked when we were swapping details!

Oooh dear, poor you Mr Cooperman!!!
How awful.....I would have either A) got out and bashed him with my handbag, that is often rather large and heavy or B) sat and cried buckets. Thinking about it I think I would probably have done both
I have recently had a sharp object run down the of my mini and then the next week someone ever so kindly left me a tinsy winsy dent the size of a 10p coin along with a rather attractive scrape of their blue paint
I cried....I was sooooo upset!!

Hope you get it all sorted out and that Mr Phones4U gets what's coming to him......swine!!

Minnie xx
