No classic Mini's? I have a feeling MINI owners would be treated like stepchildren...

I am a member of the NJ chapter of the BMWCCA. I emailed the NJ Chapter President this past weekend and asked him if the New MINI is part of the club. His reply was yes. And said that at the recent Driver Ed at Summit Point, WV a MINI participated. For more Info you may want to email National at BMWCCA.ORG for details.

I dunno

teh BMW club is a good club for sure, and enjoys some corporate sponsorship from BMW. That's an advantage.

But, there's a lot of Mini's here in US, and more to come, and I don't think the BMW club wants the old mini's.

There's a pretty good deal of revenue involved in club membership of a popular marque. I would suggest that if ClubMini UK wants a piece of the US market they better get some infrastructure in place ASAP.

Else they'll lose it all to BMWCCA or whatever entrepreneur decides they have the time to form an independent Mini Club of America.

My 2 cents

the BMWCCA is HUGE in the states - with over 50 chapters through out the states. Problem is - MINI doesn't want it to be a BMW, they push hard for it not to be, then why should it be part of a BMW club? Yes, you don't need to own a BMW to be in the BMWCCA - for track days yes you can bring any car you want....but what is the point? If i was in a club for one make of car i wouldn't want it flooded with another make. I was a member of the BMWCCA, atleast I thought I am as I'm a big M3 fan, they gladly took my money, and I never got a mag from them, any club info, etc etc...nada nunca nil. Made a few attempts to contact them and got no reply. Oh well, I won't be going back. I want to be in a club with MINI fans...not m3 fans. I want to go on cruises with MINIs not BMWs. It isn't that i don't like BMWs, just I want a "MINI" club.

MINICCA - joke if you ask me - never got off the ground, and I really doubt it will. MINICCA is partial ran by Charlie from RoadFly and if you look at their MINI site there and see the complete lack of anything on it, what do you think a club ran partial by them would be like.... Plus i really don't think a club for both classics and new MINIs would work well. Sure I'd love to see it as I love both, and am a member of my local classic Mini club, but they don't much give a rats arse about the new MINI, they like old cars(not saying this to be offensive, they just have different tastes and don't care for the new MINI, i can respect that).

So basically we need a new MINI only club hence ClubMINI2. Hopefully there will people around the states that will be willing to start up ClubMINI2 chapters in their area. I will be doing one for Minnesota(actually at lunch going driving around town to look for a new MINI i heard was here..hehehe-recruting already).

Cheers

Lets start a list

I started a thread http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=6768 in the ClubMINI2 forum asking for people to sign up for their area to help run a local chapter of the club. Once we get a fair amount of people wanting to start local chapters we will all get together on #mini2 chat or something and discuss how we want to handle national events, etc as in the states it is a bit harder then then the UK due to the size differences...harder for everyone to make one National event when some people would have to drive a few days to get there.

Cheers

Goes a good way to explaining why MINI2.com is the most popular MINI site on the net......and judging by everyone's enthusiasm here, will remain so for a long long time to come.

I agree with you Basil. This is the place to get the club going and so I have joined ClubMINI2 and you all should do the same!! I am also a member of the BMWCCA and have enjoyed the members and benefits of membership for years(wholesale costs on parts, owner appreciateion bonuses when you purchase new or Cert Pre-Owned, great monthly mag...etc).

Hopefully we can all help move ClubMINI2 to this level. Perhaps, BMW may want to throw their corporate sponsership hat into this ring. It certainly is the best established MINI site around and already has a strong readership. Any comments der Byerische Moteren Werks??

Mini Clubs

TBD-- For what it's worth, there is another international mini register(club), check out www.minicooper.org. They are also based in UK, but have a group in Japan and reportedly are receptive to a USA region. Their cost to join is 22-33 pounds, depending on your domicile.

If you live in or near Southern California, you might want to check out "Mini Owners of America - Los Angeles" or MOALA. The web-site address is: www.moala.org They sponsor rallies and other events. The club meets every third Wednesday of the month at Me-N-Ed's pizza restaurant at the corner of Carson and Paramount in Lakewood. They are real cool bunch of people!

Hey there, all. First post here. I'm a long-time fan of VW Golfs and am waiting for a new Cooper S.

About 5 years ago, when the VW scene was just starting to take off, I helped get the Chicago Volkswagen Organization off the ground. At the time there were many established "vintage VW" clubs, but none had any interest in the GTI, Jetta, Corrado owners. With the help of a few friends and VWVortex.com (a website like Mini2), we were able to make a club for the new wave of enthusiasts.

The situation was similar to what New MINI owners face now. The BMWCCA is a great club; I'm currently a member, though I haven't had one for about five years. I don't believe that the CCA is the best place for MINI owners long-term. I feel the brand deserves its own club.

Although I am very busy running my business (we do performance and cosmetic enhancements for European cars) and I don't have the time to "run" a chapter or a club, I would be glad to assist the right people in taking the steps needed to properly set one up.

The Chicago area is large enough to support a chapter of a national club. There are three dealers in the area. If anyone is interested in setting something up, send me an e-mail.

On the subject of including older Minis in a new club, my experience with the VW scene is that owners of vintage cars tend to want to get together socially, show of their cars, swap parts, etc. I think many New MINI owners will be anxious to drive their cars at autocrosses, track days, and other similar events, as well as modifying them, and so on. I could be wrong, but that's what I've seen.

Hi- Great first post, I generally agree with your comments. I had a Cooper S years ago and I doubt if the two groups will mix much. Regarding BMW CCA, I am also a member and I think it would be wise to have some affiliation with them if possible. They have a lot of good programs, including track insurance, etc. Their board wants to be MINI inclusive.
