Wales speeding ticket :(

just 2wks until the new cooper arrives at the dealer and this morning i had a 100mph exactly speeding ticket on the motorway! its my own fault i know, but we all know, or invariablly know, that this is gona b an automatic driving ban its my own fault and im gutted but these nothing i can do about it now, guess i wait the 28days to send it off to prolong the mini driving for a bit longer before i get a summons to appear in court and the terrible idea of a fine but more massive the ban i may incur. Any ideas from anyone? anyone know anyone whos has got off somehow, anything appreciated! A stark warning for every1 they are about, i didnt even see him! I only have myself to blame, my new £16,000 cooper will be sitting in the garage i think for a while

I think you can get away with 6 points sometimes if you're clocked at 100 - might not get the 2 week ban or whatever it is... good luck, enjoy the mini when it comes!

Max posted details of a legal-advice web site specialising in 'speeding' tickets etc - do a search or PM him and try the site - think they charge £30ish for advice - worth it to know where you stand and remove the stress of waiting etc IMO

Tell the court that you can't be without your licence because you have a MINI on the way. You never know, the magistrate may be a MINI fan or even a MINI2er (then again they may also be a "100% BMW free" stickered classic mini owner with a huge chip.............)

thanks

They let a cooper off around my area for doing 104 on the M6 toll, why? because he said 'i was keeping up with traffic' wtf???????? i been on the toll enough times to know you rarely pass another bloody car! let alone have to do speeds like that to 'keep up the traffic'

So you never know you may still be able to keep ur licence. Id suggest going to see a solicitor and see what they say.

Might not be of any use, but......

Flicking through this months copy of goMINI last night, theres a full page advert for a book written by an ex copper telling you all the truths and secrets around speeding, cameras and how to get off with things. I think its about £20.

Thats a good site and click on "Avoid That Ticket" section on the left hand side. Some useful info in there.

If you can get some kindly HR person at work to present you with a letter saying you cannot be without car for work, you may avoid a ban. Being contrite and knowing you're guilty rather than any kind of belligerance will presumably help - and that's how you are in your post... which should go down well with the magistrate.

Where was it M4 in Wales ?????

On one trip back one weekend I saw 3 speed traps between the end of the M4 in Carmarthenshire and the Severn Bridge. I don't hold out much hope for you with the Welsh police's vendetta against motorists

While over there, I got caught doing 98 on the A1(M) (the part where it's 3 lanes). It was a beautiful day, light traffic, and I was just speeding along. I didn't even see the copper until I looked in my rearview! Anyway, as I'm military, I had my highest enlisted command member join me at the court. In the courtroom, I simply admitted guilt, minded my manners, and was apologetic. The magistrate asked me if there was any reason why he shouldn't take my license (well, UK driving privliges technically, as I have a US license). I gave him a story on how I needed it for my job, etc., and I mentioned that I had a senior member of my command there to verify my story. He called him over, and they had a little talk. He then conferred with the other magistrates (? I don't remember what they were called. There were 3 people up there, although only one did the talking). After a few painstaking minutes, he told me that he wasn't going to suspend my driving privliges, but in exchange for the courts leniency, I was fined £235 plus another £60 court costs! Oh, and 6 points.

Still, I was able to keep on driving! (Even if it was a bit slower... )
