Offline | I know that several S owners have gone to 15" wheels, not only to lighten, but to soften or smooth out the ride, atleast on the older shocks. |

| Professional Flirt | Loves the MCS SS! I've got an MCS with 17 inchers and I Love the ride. I went from a '99 Mitsubishi Eclipse to my Mini Cooper S (April '04 build) and I haven't noticed much of a difference. A couple people (my mother) has complained about the ride, but it's more my driving she's complaining about. (She just doesn't understand why it's so fun to double the speed limit around corners). I'd assume that most of us who got the MCS test drove it and felt the ride so we knew what we were getting into. I know a couple people who got the MC with the SS+ and hadn't test driven it. That's where most of the complaints arise from I believe. But on the other hand, I am very aware of the road and what I'm about to put my tire into. I don't care to snap a rim or pop my runflats. ![]() |

| MINI Owner! | I think another thing that creates more complaints is maybe older people driving one with SS+, . But, in all honesty, do you think that could be where a lot of the complaints come from? I'm 17, and I'm pretty sure my bones can handle it. However, many people say that the ride is pretty much smooth. And lastly, the roads around me, with the exception of a couple of freeways, are pretty smooth roads.Let's Motor! |

Offline | The suspension on a Cooper with Sport Suspension Plus is the same as the suspension on a Cooper S provided that the Cooper S does not have a sunroof. Sunroof equiped Cooper S's have different spring rates. Roll bars on a Cooper with the optional suspension upgrade and a Cooper S are the same. The addition of a sunroof make no difference. You can see this for yourself since the springs are colour coded. Turn the steering wheel to full lock and with a torch look for a "hash" marks on the top coil of the spring. |

Offline | So what did you actually order on the car? We have found the SS+ works wonderfully with the R81 15x5.5" Wheels for the commute where the tires contribute significant compliance. Converting to a larger wheel and lower profile tires gives excellent track performance. We're very happy with this combination on the Cooper. Offline | But the suspension; how did you order that? In fact, what are the details of the whole car since you got a lot of us to express opinion it would be interesting to see what you finally ordered. ![]() '02 MINI Cooper CVT(6/12/02; Indi Blue/Black, R-81 7-hole 15x5.5" or NZO 16x6.5") '67 Austin Cooper S (6/26/67; Tartan Red/Black, 10x4.5") |
