| MINI2 Global Moderator | MINI extended warranty My MINI's warranty is going to expire in just over a month, today I received a letter from my dealer offering an extended warranty. The warranty appears to be the same as normal but with MOT failure insurance. But here's the stinger...... £390 for 12 months! Ouch! Obviously it could be worth the money, but on the other hand if the car behaves like it has done for the past three years I can't see me spending £390 at the dealers each year fixing the niggles! Thanks but no thanks BMW ![]() the MINI has gone... |

Offline | My g/f's VW dealership offered an extended warranty for £550 ![]() There were A LOT of grey areas - you had to sign a declaration before the car went in to say that you'd pay for the work should it not be covered. At that price it should cover the same things as the old warranty, but they had a list. Basically it was a load of kak so we didn't bother. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | If it was me I'd get it. A single claim could easily wipe that out. And if the MINI warranty is as comprehensive as the BMW one then you'd probably find that its pretty good. IIRC my BMW was about £400ish to renew. 260909 ![]() |

Offline | But is it? The VW extended warranty was very shady - if it was a comprehensive Warranty then I agree it's worth getting. But the VW one was a joke. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Well I occassionally still visit a BMW forum I was a member of and the guys on there are regularly saying how the BMW warranty is good value for money. Quite a few have had claims go through without any problems at all. Many have even been done under warranty at the dealers suggestion. That's not to say that every single claim will go through but whenever the subject of 'shall I renew my warranty' comes up the answer is always a resounding yes. 260909 ![]() |

Offline | BMW has a simplified approach to w/tee fees, all 3 series were about £400 last time I took one. With an M3 engine about 5k I thought it was worthwhile. So I expect MINI to follow suit and charge one price making it slightly better value for the S. If you take out a w/tee be realistic, w/tee's are run to make money so on average you lose out. However it does mean a fixed cost you can budget too as opposed to the unknown. You'll also sleep better despite hearing a slightly different noise driving home . I don't believe there is one answer for all of us but after £400 in 2002 for an M3 then £390 does seem pricey for a MINI even if it is 2004. ![]() Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs |

Offline | The only one I know fer sure is free scheduled maintence extended to 4/50K for $499. There are EW going up to 7/100K, but are quite pricey. Yet I think they're also refundable if you should sell or trade your car before reaching factory limits. Best to check your dealer. Jimbo |

Offline | Hmmm I'd shop around forextended warranties - lots of places do them. Try Car Care Plan - they do warranty stuff. They gave me a really good quote on GAP insurance - less than half that quoted by the dealer! |
