Offline | When I hand over my cheque (check) for £11,600 ($17,000) for my new MINI in the Autumn (fall) I will be so happy that I will load my bags into the boot (trunk) and go away on holiday (vacation). I will drive down the motorway (highway) listening to my favourite (favorite) radio programme (program) and look at all the admiring glances I’m getting through my windscreen (windshield) from the other chaps (guys) in their boring cars (ve-hic-les). When I stop at the services (gas station) for a few litres (liters) of petrol (gas), it may also be a good idea to open the bonnet (pop the hood) to check the oil, then check the tyre (tire) pressure before pulling away in my MINI, being careful not to break the speed limit whenever I spot a policeman (cop) in his panda car (patrol ve-hic-le). When I reach my destination I will drive my MINI to the town centre (center), park at a car park (parking lot) and go to the shopping centre (mall) for a Big Mac (Big Mac), a soft drink (soda) and some sweets (candy). I may then need to answer the call of nature and pay a visit to the toilet (bathroom). After rearranging my trousers (pants) I would return to my blue coloured (colored) MINI. Later I will take my MINI to a drive-in cinema (movie theater). There I will be the envy of everyone as I sit there in my MINI munching my packet of crisps (chips). After the film (movie) I will proudly drive back to my holiday flat (vacation apartment), take the lift (elevator) to my room and dream of my MINI!! :+ |

Offline | From the UK: This FORUM is a damn site too (2) quiet this evening, rob & kshapiro. Quite frankly . . . I don`t like it! We do our best to provide a little (MINI) humour (humor) and all we get is nowt (nothing) (zilch). Note, kshapiro, nowt means bugger`all in Yorkshire, England - honest! I see BBCs TopGear on the tele (box) is doing a review of the MINI in 2 weeks time - did anyone see tonights piece on buying used Mini Coopers? |

Offline | `Appen as like! sweeny. Which, roughly translated for our US MINI2 friends, reads . . . `um . . . "that`s about the way it were (was), sweeny". As in . . . "That`s exactly how I happened to end up (on my side, in the Mini, tight against `yon dry stone wall back in the early `80s), sweeny". Sorry, for `yon read "that, there". I stand corrected if any Yorkshire MINI2 big bloke says that that was not a true translation, lad. But, look at it this way, maybe people from other Lands will eventually understand just where it was that we were coming from when we designed the original Mini! Eventually. |

| MINI2 Newbie | I Think the new MINI is not that MINI and it's Not a MINI when it ain't got a A or A+ Engine in it... Sorry lads but come on it's Just not a MINI anymore... If they used an A+ engine and made it better spent more time in Improving it insted of us lot then it might have been a success. They have made this MINI for the Upper Class Housewife With loads of money. I think that is Funny....ha ha What's it got a 1.6L Crizler Neon Engine.... sorry not 4 me... |

Offline | Ref: Daniel Moore. Yes, this Topic is: MINI humour (humor)! And, of course, rob`s right! Yes, MINI is a bit of a misnomer, and it is bigger (look on MINI as a style of car maybe) - but how does Daniel think the Mini Classic would perform if it happened to crash into one? If the Mini Classic were to be designed today it simply wouldn`t get as far as the back of the proverbial menu or fag packet - and yes, there`d be a Government Health Warning! No, the engine doesn`t come out of the Neon, thankfully, but do you really expect that any current manufacturer would choose to stick an iron lump, with the gears in the sump, into the front of their new car!? He doesn`t mention the K-Series! I had a Mini years ago, it was the Mini van and, as bought, it was painted cream with a pink roof! I sold it 4 years later, after I`d cut 2 big holes in the back and fitted sliding windows (Aluminium Alloy!), replaced the gearbox and resprayed it a lovely (like Jaguar F1) shade of metallic green. It was sad because it had become part of the family - but the family had out-grown it! Now it`s seen as from a different era – time to move on! |
