Just got the extras list for the Cooper from my local dealer... They are only doing a limited number of bits for the initial production run.

Theres only 4 colours available, Solid Black & Solid Chilli Red, or for £250 more there's Met Indi Blue or Met Silver.

1/2 leather upholstery is £440 (available in Panther or Red) (CHILLI)
Full leather pack is £970

Traction Control and DSC is £100
Sports suspension upgrade is £100 (CHILLI)
Leather steering wheel is £80 (CHILLI)
ITS Head Airbag is £200
Space-saver spare wheel is £35
Remote alarm is £200
Heated washer jets & outside mirrors is £40
Chrome inserts on f & r bumpers is £80 (PEPPER & CHILLI)
16" alloys are £410 (CHILLI)
Electric panorama sunroof is £500
Warning triangle & 1st aid kit is £25
Aircon is £600
Extra interior lights is £70 (PEPPER & CHILLI)
Single CD Player (upgrade from Cassette) is £70
Radio/Cassette boost (?) is £135

The Pepper package is £300, Chilli is £1000 - I was told I HAD to pick one of those to get an order by late august/early sept...

(All those prices are inc. VAT by the way)

Lacking at the moment apart from more colours are...

Auto transmission
Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
Xenon headlights
Windscreen rain sensor
Heated windscreen
Heated seats
Multi-function steering wheel
Harmon Kardon stereo
Sat Nav

Shame really, I wanted to put a really pukka stereo in the thing, so I guess I'll have to go it alone and get something really special for myself.

Prices seem ok, though air con seems a tad expensive. I'm amazed at how cheap traction control is!

I saw on that list of options that you could add a "space saver spare wheel". I thought that they weren't going to offer a spare wheel as it wouldn't fit into the back?

Firstly, many thanks to "gazzaman28".

If there`s not a lot of room for a space-saver, how much is there when you load the standard wheel after swopping?

Especially, of course, if you`ve got a fairly full car at the time!

If I`m travelling 2-up in my Honda S2000 with a full boot and standard space-saver, (as we did to Venice last year) it doesn`t bear thinking about as to where any punctured (pretty wide) wheel would be supposed to go!

I`d say stick! with the puncture kit unless you`re going to be mainly travelling "light" and continue with any AA/RAC package that might be offered at sale for further reassurance.

How about the run-flat tyres for the 16" alloys we`ve read about?

And does anyone know about any initial AA/RAC cover?

From the UK:

Is anybody out there going to place an order before first, either:

a) Driving it.

b) Reading the full Autocar Road Test next week.

Those that have already ordered are hardly going to lose any sleep, and of course, they`ll be taking earliest Delivery.

I can totally understand the eagerness to commit to the Cooper NOW, and I hardly think it`s going to be a "dud", but I just hope it`ll be considered by the serious motoring press as living up to the Cooper name?

Hopefully, various concerns regarding the engine and transmission, posted here, will not be an issue.

And, personally, I`m not going to be too concerned about its probable 0-60 time - 9 seconds will be fine - for me!

I reckon it will be judged on Steering, Handling and Ride - if it doesn`t meet the enthusiasts, perceived, "New" MINI Cooper criteria in the first 2 areas then no amount of BMW generated badge engineering will do.

People aren`t going to buy MINI for practical reasons. A Yaris it `aint!

In short, I think the One needs to be a very good Drive, the Cooper`s got to be a really great Drive - to have earned its Badge - and the S will have to be bloody marvellous!!

Next Wednesday could be a busy day for BMW Dealers in the UK!

Meanwhile, like rob, I`d like to know if gazzaman28 has placed his order?

In answer to the questions, I finalised my order today, i'm getting a red/black cooper with pepper pack, traction control, sunroof, leather steering wheel, and warning triangle/first aid kit!!!

Apparently those prices aren't totally official yet, but Godfrey Hall in coventry were pretty sure they were the prices BMW were happy with, and once they have confirmation, I will sort out my part-ex and finance.

All that I am waiting for now is the reviews next week, a test drive in late june (Godfrey Hall are hoping to get some cars before July 7th), and my delivery in late August/early September...

BRING IT ON!!!

Forgot to add, I know my dealer did have a list of Mini One options and prices, but I wasn't given that. Give em a call I reckon...

With the pricey air conditioning, was that for the climate control unit (which works to a thermostat) or the basic airconditioning unit (where you have to adjust things yourself)?

You're right. The space saver goes under the rear of the car (there's no space saver option on the S becasue the battery lives there) so when you take off the full size wheel there's nowhere to put it! I doubt it will fit in the boot so you'd need to fold down the rear seat. Then again, you're not likely to fit any passengers in the back anyway
