I was expecting a so-so review, but this comes across very well indeed. Based on one or two of the earlier reviews, less-than stellar performance and road handling had been suggested. This seemed improbable (certainly the latter) - I think BMW is incapable of making a boring, poor-handling car. If this is how well they say it goes with the 115bhp, can't wait for the Cooper S!

Why oh why do I have to wait until September to get me one of these?!!! It ain't fair!!!

It just seems strange that while everyone else is knocking MINI and BMW, Autoexpress just get on with an unbiased review and it comes up trumps - was there anything wrong with it at all?!

I read the article and thought it was very good. It seems the MINI will be all that we hoped.
It is funny that you guys in the UK are dieing that you have to wait until July.
You guys are lucky as all of us in the USA have to wait until march at the earliest.

I really cant wait to get my Cooper S, #10 on the dealers list.

For our international friends, apparently there are only 123 of us with a deposit down for a Cooper S in the UK, with another 2100 or so opting for One or Cooper.

Assuming the same ratio for the rest of Europe (about another 3,000 cars), if you wanted to get hold of a left hand drive Cooper S before they are released in the US, you could import one from continental Europe - not sure on release dates, and you would also need to find a BMW dealer prepared to provide the service for you.

Sounds like a great idea, but US-spec cars will be forced to have many differences from Euro-spec MINIs due to US regulations. A non US-spec car could not be imported into the US - Customs would stop its entry. Canada's regulations virtually match those of the US, so same story there.

North America wil just have to watch the party from the sidelines until next March...

Don't worry, the Cooper S is released at the same time in US as it is in Europe.
