Oh! With respect, come on some of you - stay calm!

We`ve already had someone saying that his Ka "towered over" the Cooper S.

It must be all that black tape!

Cor` Blimey, no wonder our friend in the US went out to measure his Neon, probably he was concerned, because also, our contributor in Texas had been a bit anxious that the new MINI might be a bit tiny in comparison with the more usual tank-like vehicles that roam the streets of North America!

When in fact it`s quite likely to be as safe, or safer, than a Focus.

But none of us wants the MINI to be the same size, or bigger, than any other car really. . . do we?

From what I`ve seen it`s near perfectly (correctly) formed with huge character.

Hopefully it`s going to be doing it`s own thing, in it`s own way, and with it`s own (mini-esque) style! And that`s surely what MINI`s all about!

As an American with a taste for smaller cars (having owned a Spitfire, GT-6, and now a CRX), my concern was that the car would be too big! In looking at some of the promo pictures, it would seem the drivers must be VERY small people, indeed. I have the photo of the yellow car - side view, wheels blurred - as my computer wallpaper. Using the driver for scale, I would guess the MINI was a new mini . . . van! Really, look at the size and position of the driver's head. Maybe BMW are concerned that the market wants a bigger car?

For us Americans that may have trouble comparing the size of the new MINI because we can't get a close look at one, here are dimensions as compared to a two door, Chevy Metro, hatchback. (this is a rough measurment)
The MINI is about 7 inches shorter, 3.5 inches wider, and a the wheel base is about 4 inches longer.
