Hi All,
I am like a kid on christmas eve. i am getting excited already and I haven't even seen amini in flesh so to speak. My question is about the alloys. Standard 15in 7 hole alloys on the cooper in white or silver, are they the same design? and just different colours. The pepper pack silverstone alloys also 15in? In silver and 5 spoke and look good? Are these the ones on the Italy test car, as it is stated these are 16in? I don't think the silverstone alloys are the "minilite" take offs as they are also 16in I believe. Can anyone help with pictures if possible. Anyone got any discount from the dealers yet?
Cheers Guys
I had similar questions about the 15" "Silverstone" alloys - by a process of deduction, the best pictures are in the Autocar supplement fitted to the Yellow MINI ONE.
You can see them from all angles in this set of pictures, but I don't know of a digital picture of them. Maybe someone else does.
Personally, I am not too impressed, they seem to have been squashed flat compared to the Old Mini.
So are the alloys on the italian silver and black test cooper not the silverstone ones then. They are 5 spoke and look nice. which alloys are these please? Can you get the silver alloys with the seven holes if you get the pepper pack. I know you had a similar question eariler, did your dealer give you any answers?
I have only seen two wheels from the Press launch: (maybe Paul M saw others)
1. 15" "7 Hole" - in both silver and white
2. 16" 5 spoke "Star" - ditto
The 7 hole is normal fitting to a Cooper, but gets changed for "Silverstone" 8 spoke in the Pepper pack. The 8 spoke is also a no cost "upgrade" for the base Cooper.
I have put in a "Special Request" to have the 7 hole alloys with the Pepper Pack, but my dealer has not been able to confirm if this will be possible. It seems that August builds will have limited variety.
But there's still confusion over these 8-spoke 15" wheels... Are they the "minilite" style wheels or something else? Sorry if this has already been covered but I don't think we've properly resolved this one yet!
I agree gazzaman. I have seen some white 8 spoke wheels that were not the minilite but flat 8 spokes and they looked OK. I like the 7 hole silver wheels and would want them more than the minilites from the pepper pack. Does anyone have the answer?
i hope this clears up the confusion over the wheel styles.
1:- the 5 spoke 16" wheels are part of the chilli pack and are called" Daytoya"
2:- the 7 hole 15" wheels are standard on the cooper these are called "Imola"
3:- the 8 hole 15" wheels are part of the pepper pack these are "Silverstone"
i am trying to download some pictures of the wheels and i will send them on to you as soon as i can get them. With regards to changing the silverstone for the imola in the pepper pack, you can do this as a no cost option.
Here are another set of wheels. The white 7 spoke above which i believe are possibly 16inch. Who knows how many of these are going to be available at the launch? Any pictures I find I will post and try to get it sorted. The dealers (UK) are supposed to be getting brouchures soon so that should help. If you e~mail your dealer BMW with your name and address they will forward one.
i will contact MINI directly to find out what these wheels are and find out availability.if anyone wants a brochure just e mail me directly and i will send one out to you.the only brochure that i have got at the moment is a fold out flyer which opens out to a poster of the cooper in indie blue(the one with the whie wheels.
The email is 'experimental'... ie it doesn't work yet. Sorry. I should really take it off before it's working, but that would take messing around with the code quite a lot.
I have thought of a theory on the lack of Silverstone 8 spoke alloys in any of the MINI activities or literature.
Perhaps the first incarnation (see Autocar supplement) has been rejected by senior BMW management as "not good enough" and they are undergoing a last minute re-design. The MINI / BMW Intranet picture available to the dealers is so small and vague, they could be anything.
Still no news from my dealer on the possibility to swap the 8 spoke for 7 hole 15" wheels on the Pepper pack - I'll keep you posted.
