Online | Check out the Dealer Locator at MINI USA. There are none listed for Texas ... guess that solves the legal issue. 8)7 |

Offline | Random thoughts on this bit of news: Well Hell has finally frozen over, hasn't it? It felt like BMW would NEVER make the announcement as the delay has stretched on months and months now. I had heard the rumor that the US site would be listing the approved MINI dealers very soon, so I had been checking the MINI USA site all day long today, but only the direct link posted above seems to work (?). (Thanks rwmatson) Great news for everyone who was told truthfully when they placed a deposit whether a BMW dealer would actually be selling MINIs or not. But, I guess there will now be some people calling to get their deposits back from dealers that didn't make the cut. Nice news about Texas – still not resolved, but BMW isn’t making that delay the other dealer announcements. As it is now, from my home here in the Long Star State the nearest dealer is listed as only 498 miles away. Fortunately I already had a deposit down with a nice BMW dealer that has proven to have been selected to a MINI dealer. Unfortunately, this MINI dealer is much further away than just 498 miles. Finally, does the LA area really need 7 MINI dealers? |

Online | I received the direct link to the Dealer Locator via email from MINI USA ... I registered there about a year ago. You can find the locator on their site under the Info header. I don't think the ZIP code function is working tho. |o It's too bad there's no dealers in Texas (yet?) ... at least you can break in the engine on the long drive home. ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | Amazing how some larger metro areas can have 4-6 dealerships within a relatively small distance, yet there are groups of entire STATES that don't have a dealership available. What are the people between Minneapolis and Seattle going to do if they want a car (or need it serviced!!).. BMW/Mini is going to forced to train every BMW service center on how to service the cars, or else the cars won't sell (once the new wears off, of course).. What happens if I drive to Idaho, and my car dies.. I'm 700+ miles from the nearest dealership.. I'm surely not going to have to have it towed that far! IMHO, this is going to be the biggest thing standing in the way of large volume sales of the MINI. |

Offline | Thanks for the heads up Ron, I've put a little news article up so people don't miss it. It's quite funny though, you're upset about it taking so long in the States when I can't even get a full list of dealers for the UK, and the car goes on sale here in a few weeks! B) |

Offline | You've got to remember there has been a drought of 33 years with no Mini dealers in the US, so Mini enthusiasts are much like someone waiting to go on a date who hasn't been out in quite a while. The younger MINI is a little more sexy than her older sister, so the waiting is difficult. Paul have a look at that.... ummmmm..... "other" MINI site, the UK version. There's now a full list of UK dealers. (I promise I won't go there often) |

Offline | Phish, what would you be doing driving in Idaho anyway? I'd assume that they're trying to create pockets of interest in larger cities, which will then spread the word to the less-developed areas. The bias away from the Midwest shouldn't be that shocking, though. Just look at the 6:30 news - unless there's a cult massacre or natural disaster, almost all news is related to either coast (which is ok with me, since I'm in northern NJ - Sopranoland). I still have no idea what BMW will do with areas without Minis. Lots of open questions around, and only 9 months left. BMW, you are the weakest link! Goodbye! |

| MINI2 Newbie | Hey! I like my potatoes to be as fresh as possible! But seriously, I live in Kansas City, and other than the one local dealer, there are no alternative service centers closer than St. Louis or Denver. What happens if I'm in a trip to visit family in northern Oklahoma, and the car craps out 3/4 of the way there (a 350 mile trip)?? Tow it all the way back to KC? That roadside assistance package better have one hell of a towing mileage allowance! |

" -------------------------------------- FYI: Just because the US is big and has many miles of straight roads doesn't mean us yanks (I don't like that word: "yanks") don't no how to find the twisty alternative routes (I'd bet there is not one circle-tracker, drag racer or IRL(indy circle-track [predjudice] inexperienced - "look ma i'm racing - crunch" Racing League] junkie on this forum). No joking - my first planed trek is from Salem, OR. through the straights of western Washington (state) through the beautiful 70-95+ mph mountain curves between western Idaho and Helena Montana . . . . . Gee! Only 600 miles detour if I break-down at the closest point to the nearst MINI dealer. . . . . . and from what I've seen, the biggest Mini following in the US is in Portland OR. . . . . . . . . . emcvay, care to comment? I'm hoping that ALL BMW dealerships will eventually offer MINI service capability. Maybe I should hold my tongue - - - BMW might surprise the US by offering a road-side rescue service like that in the UK. |
