Offline | To keep or not to keep, that is the question... Chatting to different people, I know of only 3 owners who will be keeping their car with no plans to change it. I wondered how many more will be keeping their pride and joy long after the warranty expires? Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40 |

Offline | A lot depends on how well the car is holding up closer to the end of the warranty. I'm still undecided as I've had quite a few problems. Love the car though. 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

Offline | Yup. It failed at 3500 miles. Most of the other problems have been more build quality than actual failure of parts, but even that it not all that comforting. 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

Offline | I parted with my year old one in February to make way for my 04 cooper. I have been told, by my other half, that this is the car I have to keep. What with us buying our own place I make him right, I'm hoping that this one will last me years. Touch wood I have had no problems with it so far. |

Offline | I am torn on this issue. I love my Cooper and really can't see getting rid of it. But the temptation is definitely there to get an S. Right now, I just can't justify getting rid of the Cooper. |

| UberGeek | Hmmm... tricky. If an auto-S comes up, I might go for that (I have to drive auto, so I can't get a standard S). Also, I'm tempted by a larger car, like the Legacy B4 RSK (Jap import) I'll keep the Coop for now tho. Can't afford to change it after what I've sunk in for mods, plus it's 40k in just over a year means it's 'high mileage' -Lee |

Offline | I honestly planned to keep my MCSs more then 3yrs but unfortunately neither lasted more then 9 months. Problems were just not acceptable. I've decided to take a break from MINI for a while. Offline | Still ultra-chuffed with my 12-month old 9000-mile MCS! The new 05 spec MCS has so many non-improvements its a disincentive to want/need the good stuff like the new lights, colour-coded dash or new alloys. Going to book my 10,000 mile service shortly, and THEY WILL BE MADE TO SEE the second gear stumble which they refused to acknowledge last time (lamers). The car jerks briefly at low revs in second gear, it's a simple fact, and if they don't get it fixed it'll be interesting to see how I feel about the car then... |

Offline | I do not intend to trade Apple for another car for the next 3 years. To me, it is all down to reliability. I shall keep her as long as she remains to be reliable. And when it is time to sell, I shall re-spray the roof before she is sold ![]() DK :apple: |

| DU07 OHO | Same here. Couple of months and the warranty expires Really want a Cooper S but not sure if I can afford one at the moment.I'll at least keep my ONE for 6 months and I'll really miss her when the time comes to sell her. Though I'm a bit worried about the gear linkage. I need another one and that will be the second time its needed a new linkage - I'm not keen on the idea of having to pay for them to be replaced every 4 months Higher mileage is also not a good factor - 32k on the clock. I know one thing for certain - if I ever get rid of my ONE, I'm having another MINI end of! Pat ![]() |

Offline | This is a good question. I have 20,000 on the clock with no major problems for my 2002 Cooper S. I'm just wondering how expensive it will be to get things sorted after the warranty gives out. I love the car. Have it tricked out the way I want it and it's my daily driver, even in the winter when a lot of people garage their cars for the season. DeniseK |

| Cross-Country Roadfinder | I am, and will. I posted a similar post a month or so back, with 78k miles on my Mini in under 2 years. I was bombarded by folks saying, 'If you like it, keep it!'. And it made sense! So, now I'm /really/ motoring. Fox. ![]() |
