Offline | I have just convinced my wife to get the 17 inch wheels on the S. I am concerned about all the potholes and am woundering if this is a good idea. Any one out there driven on the 17's? How are they on a rough road? Will the wheels withstand the beating?vs 16" Getting 15" for winter,Thanks ![]() |

Offline | I've recently upgraded from 16's to 17's and to make things worse I went for 205/40 tyres instead of 205/45's for that rubber band effect but as far as the ride is concerned potholes are more noticeable (only just) but for me the general ride is better. That said I think that 17" wheels look sweeeeeeet so just do it. ![]() |

Offline | At the end of the day larger wheels will weigh more, ride worse, and spin slower. At the *very* end of the day, all that really matters is appearance, so go for the 17's ![]() |

Offline | I have been running on 17s since September but did put my steel biscuit wheels on once out of curiousity. The alloys make the ride much firmer and you do feel the bumps a damn sight more but in my opinion, that's what the MINI is about. If I wanted a soft, uninspriring dull ride, I would have bought a Golf... And, in agreement with everyone else, they do look sexy as hell!! big is beautiful........ Sold MINI, Bought Volvo V40 TD. I Feel Dirty! |
