| MINI2 Newbie | 05 Pricing Confusion Well I am expecting my 05 Cooper in early August, so I am getting all my financing in order with my Credit Union. They told me that I needed to get a buyers order from the Dealer. So I called today and had one faxed over. I was rather surprised with the final price, in part because of the Dealer Prep charge of $500 which I suppose I can understand, but mostly surprised with the price of the Cooper before fees and taxes. My Cooper is a base Cooper, with the Premium Package, and the AutoDim Mirror/Wipers. From my understand here online, the base pricing didn't increase, and the Premium Package increased $50. So according to this I figured it should have been $18,499 with my selected options, that being before tax and fees. I was a little surprised when I was shown a price of $18,769. I know that neither of these are huge price increases, but it all adds up. Anyone have any thoughts? I am supposed to be paying MSRP for the 05. Thanks. |

Offline | When I specced out my 05, I simply took the 2005 pricing sheet downloaded as a PDF from MotoringFile.com and added it up. When I ordered the car, I was given a written order sheet and it was exactly the same, except for an $85 fee for temporary plates, and a $120 "fuel and Mat" fee. I do not know if that stands for "Fuel and Materials" or "Fuel and floor mats," but it damn well better come with a full tank of gas! I bought the car from a remote dealer because the "local" dealer, who is still 125 miles away, wanted a $599 "Dealer Prep fee" and a $399 "Documentation Fee." Yeah, right. |
