Im looking at this horrible car, that looks like just had a crash on the doors and I see a lot o similarities on our mini, same engine, run flat tires, the question is they are using our plataform to do this cuasi car.
I have no idea what BMW is doing with this. BMW already have a car in the sub-compact market, and now they're putting another in there?? BMW is diluting the brand w/ the 1 seres I think. It might be scrapped after a few yrs like the 318ti
you are right is rear wheel drive, so there is my answer its impossible to be the same paltaform.
I do not know what BMW is doing the cars or the style I do not undertand the rear shape, the Z4 in Mexico´s dealers they are almoust giving it for free I´ve seen just one on the street, I think that is the perfect example.
All new BMW's are coming with runflat tyres (5 series, Z4, 6 series...) -to increase boot space/allows battery to be located in the boot freeing up space under the bonnet.
The 1 series is larger than the MINI, the 1 series is to compete in the preium hatch market against the likes of the Audi A3, top end VW golfs and the mercedes c class coupe
It will also replace the 3 series compact
the 1 series is going to replace the 3 series??? No way! I like the 5 immensely, the 7 is not bad, but the 1 is just nasty. The front gets uglier and uglier the more I look at it. BMW what are you doing?
I find the 1 series BMW deeply worrying. It only goes to show what Chris Bangle is really capable of. I know that he has (thankfully) been promoted into a position where he is no longer directly involved with design but will he be able to infulence changes to the MINI? I await the next generation MINI with some concern unless CB finds another job where his talents might be better deployed...
I don't think bangle will be that closely involved in the design of the next generation Mini
Different brand image and all that.
I actually quite like some of the new BMW designed stuff. The 1 isn't great. But the 5 and the X3 look good to me
I disliked the 1'er at first, but it has grown on me quite a lot. Actually, if you look around you will find that they are already selling above expectations and it hasn't even been released. Also, the reviews so far have been very positive.
I wouldn't compare it to the Mini other than they are both small and made by BMW. I also doubt they will be robbing sales from each otherl.
Now when the M2 comes out, that may be a different story
Digi-Tec MCS Gone Life without a supercharger is boring
I think the worst of all is the Z4 I can not even see how it came to the market.
The 7, 5 and are not soo bad
The X5 to me is the car of catwoman I really hate the spoilers, the lines and same the X3.
They should find some other disigner for the future many people say that they do not like the new style BMW is making, maybe in years to come all cars will look like that, or maybe we will say do you remember the Z4 as we now remember "the Pacer" at least this one is Classic, i do not think the Z3 or Z4 will be ever
My Dad just picked up his X3 last Thursday and we're quite pleased with it. It's higher up than our Passat, it's spacious, has an atrium feel to it with the panoramic sunroof and has more useable space than it's big brother, the X5. In my opinion, it's one of the better sport utility vehicles out there because it's not huge, but it's not tiny either. A nice compromise for a country that is slowly being taken over by Hummers, Expeditions, and Escalades.
You are right with the performance of the X3 and X5 no question, BMW makes good quality cars, with the best technology available, but im just judging the style and with that matter the worst think we can do is argue, because everyone thinks and likes different things, I do no like the new style BMW is making on new cars. look at this
Had a good look round a 120d the other day - it has the usual BMW quality reminds me of an updated 3 series. I know where people are coming from with the radical design issue but there growing on me (sorry)
