Mini Cooper Spotted in San Diego.

April 22, 2002 3:00p.m. I spotted a Blue Mini on the 5 freeway today. Anyone on this board?? I turned my head and STARRED at you but u didnt turn to look at me.

Oh this is my VERY FIST Mini Sighting that was actually on the ROAD!! I Soooooooo Want my MINI NOW!!!!

Sorry for the delay, I just found this thread. This might very well have been me. I received my Electric Blue S on Monday the 20th, and I travel I-5 quite a bit.

Anyway, please accept my apologies for not returning the stare. ;-)

Hmm, I saw 2 MINIs on the side of the 15 freeway heading out of San Diego on Sunday, the 23rd (actually it was quite a bot north of SD, closer to Lake Elsinore). I actually only saw one of them. I was driving, and noticed out of the corner of my eye a small yellow car on the shoulder in front of another car with it's hood (bonnet) up. I glanced over and said something to my girlfriend (er, fiance now, gotta get used to that, ). She said that both cars were MINIs, including the one with the raised bonnet =( As I said, I didn't get to see it, but from the glimpse I got it was a dark color, black, indi blue, or BRG. The one in front was LY with a checkerboard roof, and I think it had some sort of writing at the bottom of the doors (a website or somesuch). Anyway, it was a sad sight to see a MINI with its bonnet up and hazard lights on sitting in the shoulder beside the freeway, I wonder if it could have been the same one you saw on Saturday UCSD? (assuming it wasn't Ches in his S, and I sure hope not for Ches' sake).

Fortunately, no.

On Sunday I went to the Jamba Juice in Hillcrest and as I was leaving spotted an old BRG Mini. I tried to follow but got stuck behind a motorhome. Eventually I was able to get the other driver to pull over (which was very easy to do since his was right hand drive). I was able to snap some shots of the two cars side-by-side, and both hoods were up for a couple of those shots. But this was nowhere near I-15, it was near Park. Does that count?

Anyway, it's funny how huge my Mini seemed compared to the old one. When I finish the roll I'll scan in the pics and post 'em.

Well another MINI sighting today Indi Blue MINI Cooper at 10:45 Going 5 freeway south. Up in northern San Diego. You had 3 people in the car, back seat was a little girl.

I tried getting your attention but NO one turned their head to look. that was a bummer... C'Mon MINI drivers.. u gotta turn your head sideways too and not just keep looking straight... I waved madly giving thumbs up and all and nothing. so I just decided to speed away.

Glad to see more MINIs are showing up in San Diego. My sister-in-law lives there and keeps saying she has only seen one MINI. San Diego is such a great place for the MINIs. Wish our's was out there instead of stuck in south FL. Have fun on all those great twisty backroads.

I'm here in San Diego. I saw a BRG MINI Cooper two days ago -- heading up on the 163 N near Sharp's hospital. I really liked the color.

Yeah, I'm still not seeing many MINIs at all, it's rather amazing. I'll go weeks on end without seeing another one, though I saw one on Lusk yesterday. Also, there's now another one in OB, a really sharp looking Indi blue.

I am also surprised at how few MINIs are spotted around here. I've seen perhaps 1 or 2 per month since I've had mine.

Even at the Chrysler Classic Speed Festival at the naval air station where I work, I saw only three MINIs, and two were part of the Brecht MINI vendor tent.

My friends tell me they see MINIs often in North County.

I've seen a couple of MINIs that don't seem to be aware of other MINIs at all! A new MINI just moved in a coupla blocks away, so I popped over to see him, and his brother was there with HIS MINI as well. That was fun. Hope to see others on the road soon.

Ya there are sooo few that I've seen in SD too... weird!
I forgot to mention I saw one parked in front of Scripps hospital last week a Yellow MINI parked across from UCSD's East Parking Lot.

I almost see at least one a day and I don't drive much
Today I saw an IB/W MC, first time I have seen an IB on the road! By the time I get mine they will be everywhere!
