Poss freebies..?

I went to see my dealer today to see whether my car had arrived, as it was due to arrive on Friday, yet no one contacted me. Anyway, it has and it's sat in their secret batcave waiting to have the dealer fitted accessories fitted. While I was there I got my car valued for my part exchange. They prophesised £10,250 for it back in April, but today I was offered £9,750 as they have to respray the RHS door and the bonnet for some scratches so it is salesfloor worthy. I'm not the kind a guy who argues with people over such things, so accepted this valuation. However, to try and claw a bit of value back for myself I've been wondering what kind of freebies I could try and 'persuade' them to part with. The best ones would be those which could go on the car, rather than the 'MINI shampoo' class of things. I've already been offered free bonnet stripes to make up for the price hike from '04 to '05, so what do you think it would be worth asking for, my initial ideas are a chrome dead pedal and clear side indicators, but thats only about £30 worth. I'm gonna try and go for about £100 worth. Over to you...[opens the floor for contructive exchange of ideas]

Martin.

What about floor mats, or the AUX input if you have an ipod or mp3 player.

RIP Boo

My dealer threw in floor mats as part of my deal - that should be a given if you ask

Also got a full tank of fuel, MINI keyring etc...

Some say he loves gaming and that he also loves house work..... All we know is, he's called The ScottyB!

dealers eh!

Does your car really need re-sprayed? The always give you the "we have to spend £x to get it through our workshop" line. I bet they just give it a good polish which will cost them next to nothing

Given that you have agreed the deal they may not give you much of any worth. How about asking for free TLC, bonnet stripes or money off some other accessory you fancy?

Back onto the issue. I really would have argued that they stick to the deal. You will not be happy when you see them selling your car for £11500 or something after only giving you £9750.

An alternative is that they still give you £10250 and you get the scratches fixed at a better price.

Kens right, stuff all the crapy free gifts the're worth nothing, tell them you had a deal and you want to stick to it........or take the car and try polising out any marks failing that take it to an independent body shop and get it done,Ill give you an example of cost difference.

I had my cars Black trim painted to match body colour the dealer wanted £1,500,I took it to a body shop and had it done for £300 and guess what ,the idependent body shop does the work for the main dealer

A lot of peeps quote the tank of petrol as a freebe, but don't you pay for it
as part of the 'on the road' package ????

See the thread below:-

http://www.mini2.com/forum/dealership-feedback/3855-free-stuff.html

This is a long established thread on freebies so gives a good idea of what people have managed to blag.

When I ordered my Cooper I blagged (or more truthfully my Missus blagged ):-

2 MINI rucksacks filled with car cleaning stuff
A Furry MINI rucksack for my boy
A furry MINI cushion for my baby girl
A 1/2 bottle of MINI chapagne
4 pull back and go MINI car fridge magnets
sweets for the kids

When I picked the car up I got another 1/2 bottle of MINI champagne and a big bunch of flowers for the missus (at least I presume they were for the missus ).

I've noticed that lots of people seem to manage to get the TLC package thrown in for nowt. I managed to get a discount of the price rather than extra goodies on the car (but the dealer told me not to say how much )
Good thread on deals :-

Cheers
