I guess all bluetooth kits work in a similar way. Here's details of a new Motorola kit - plus an explanation of how it works.

is that related to the microphone in the roof (headliner)??

...yes....a mic does go on the cieiling or wherever you want it...but the best results for the person on the otherside of the phone is to have it on the ceiling as the conversation is clearer!

thanks! saw that thing in the roof of the mini and they told me the kits hadnt yet come out...looks neat though, even if im absolutely opposed to people talking on their cell phone while theyre driving.

...well....really it hasn't come out!

...dealer's are supplying them towards the end of the year!

Its just I have a mate who works for Nokia! ...and so I asked BMW nicely and they said they could fit it if I get the kit....so its cheaper too

...the MINI comes with nothing relating to phones!

unfortunate when you consider 99% of MINI owners will have a phone!

Anyway...its a case of buying the bits from Nokia and getting BMW or private phone dealer to fit the whole lot!

Its a real pain....but worth it!

I also think bluetooth is cool because you can keep the phone in your pocket and talk at the same time! And for me the best thing is you have no cradle so I won't be leaving my phone in the car by accident when I forget to take it with me!

districtofc,

I think that the "mike" in the roof lining situated next to the sunroof switch/clock is actually a temperature sensor. When you dial up a temperature on the HVAC controls the sensor "switches" the heat/cold on and off when the interior has reached the correct temp.

I may be wrong though (and usually am!)
