Australia International reclocation with our mini

Gday all... ok so we are looking at moving to holland to follow a job offer . Currently we are in Texas (but yes I'm an aussie) and have a 2002 mini still under warranty (and planning to renew the warranty upon expiration) and are wondering what happens if we relocate internationally?

We got a quote on shipping the vehice (very reasonable at only $850 US from Houston, TX to Rotterdam in the Netherlands) but does anyone have an idea of the international reach of the warranties, roadside assistance etc?

and does anyone have any experience in testing this out?

the other possibility is to sell this mini then buy another one once we get there, I haven't yet priced the difference so maybe someone may have an idea of that too.

thanks

gearon

Interesting situation. I have to say, you are a lucky person to have such a problem.

No idea on service. How long do you intend to be there?
I know an ex-pat can bring a car into the US for 1 or 2 years, but don't know if it goes the other way. If you can take your car in you might be able to save on loads of registration taxes that you would spend on a new car there. I think this will require some enquery with customs/vehicle regestration.

Selling here and buying there won't get you much. My fully spec'ed out US Cooper S was 1000 UK pounds cheaper than the base price in the UK.
