![]() maker of trouble | I find this highly amusing - as when traversing the ummm highways? (or are they byways...) of Ireland you reach a signpost that has 40 arrows sticking out of it pointing every which direction (including up and down!) and half were miles, half were km, and a handfull (yes - more than 100% but ya know what I mean!) were in some other unit of measure that I am still not sure of... Hence our 3 weeks of never actually getting to where we wanted to go on the first try... Saw lots of small towns (oh yeah - Ireland!) on the way and things we wouldn't have seen if we'd stuck to the 'main' roads... Can't wait to head back - and we had thought driving in England was fun - we knew nothing until we started driving in Ireland! Until next time.... Hmmmmm |

Offline | i went for a trip across ireland to limerick and on my travels across the N/M7 i realised i didnt know the speed limit, so i called my father (lived in limerick for about 13yrs) and he said some signs are in mph, others in kph which didnt help me atall so i just drove the 1 great thing about ireland roads are that everyone is more than happy to jump into the hard sholder to let you past...... a fantastic thing that lorries and old people in the UK should adopt! good country, good roads, bad road signs (PS ill try and host a few video clips of said hard-sholder driving later) |
