How much BIGGER can a MINI be?

The next generation MINI will be bigger than the current model, that's a fact. What isn't clear at this stage is just how much BIGGER the new MINI will be!

In your view, how much longer can a MINI be, and still be called a MINI, after all, the MINI is only just "mini" as it is, being a shorter car than almost all other "proper" cars on the roads (even the Ford Ka!) but how far can MINI stretch it before it should be called MIDI?

Vote now!

I vote no change, the proportions must be affected ie. longer, higher wider etc. Surely they can only be talking in millmetres!

They'll just increase every measurement by 100% and make the car exactly twice the size and it'll probably still be smaller than some SUV's

It needs to be bigger so I can get a passenger in behind my seat when driving

OK, done.

The MINI will get bigger, the bonnet line has to raise for a start (for more than one reason), and the car is already wide for it's length, so when it "grows" it should still be in proportion, if not quite so "boxy" or squat as it is now.

I'm very interested in the next generation MINI, as that's the next MINI I plan (hope) to purchase!

Why not let them in while the car is stationary?

I always felt the MINI could get away with another inch or two of back seat room, and not have it be noticable in its outward appearance.

I agree that slightly more space is needed in the rear, but could it also be said that the boot could do with more capacity??

Ah hah.. hi-larious.

I like it how it is, but It might be nice to be able to actually fit someone in those rear seats.

I do not think that the proper question is "how much bigger can a Mini be?" Thats like the old question "How far can a dog run into the woods?" Answer: Half-way, then he is running out of the woods.

The real question is "Is there a need for a larger Mini style car - lets call it the Midi." Is there a need for a Midi? A car like the Mini, with its style and panache, but bigger. There is no need to eliminate the Mini, just add to the line. I, for one, could see a sort of Scion B-type Midi vehicle. Just not as a replacement for the Mini. In fact, from watching Fifth Gear on cable, and watching the price of oil, maybe we need a "Nano," an even smaller 2 seat Mini.

The question is how much bigger can the basic, hatchback, 3 door MINI be, before people on here would be unhappy, or not consider it "MINI" anymore.

I really like the squat look of the current Mini and I think it adds to the handling. To be honest I can't see how they can improve on it. For me looks wise it'll be change for the sake of change.

Is it 2007 that it's due?

Isn't is 5 inches short of being able to compete in the WRC, let it grow to the minimum length, add an all wheel drive version, and lets see "Team MINI" in the WRC !!!!

If it gets too big I'll just be even happier I have mine

WARNING-Objects in rear view mirror have a tendency to disappear!
