Weekend Closures On M6 - UK The four-mile stretch of the M6 in Lancashire between Junctions 26 and 27 will be closed overnight this weekend and next weekend, so that the White Hill and Vicarage bridges can be put back in place.
They were dismantled earlier in the year and taken to the nearby Leyland Vehicles factory, where they were freshened up, and modified so that they will now allow greater clearance for high-sided vehicles passing underneath.
The motorway will be closed from 10pm and 9am on the 4th and 5th of September, and again on the 11th and 12th. No wonder: the bridges weigh 148 tons each, and will be hoisted into place by a quartet of cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 1000 tons |
