France European Certificate Of Conformity

Hello people,

I hve just imported a Mini Cooper from France, and as I am filling in the paperwork to take it to the DVLA, I am missing a couple really difficult answers to very technical questions.

Anybody did that before me?

(1 question is the stationnary Sound Level in dB)

Anybody got any clues of what could be?

Oh and it's a '05 Mini Cooper

Any help would very much appreciated.

Daniel

As far as I recall - and this is all from memory, and might not all be right in your case, depending how you are going about it, but...

The certificate of conformity can be issued by the VCA

The VCA
No1 Eastgate Office Centre
Eastgate Road
Bristol BS5 6XX

You will need a Commission Notice Letter from BMW (you'll need to call head office, wherever that it), and it will cost you, no doubt and the VCA demand £65. You need proof that the headlamps have been perm adjusted to dip left, side repeaters are fiited, the speedo shows MPH, the rear fog is on the right (or is it left - durrr, blonde moment) and the rear seats have seatbelts.

Then you can your number plate from the DVLA, when you can prove that you paid import duty and VAT (if applicable), and the car is taxed, MOT'd and insured (which you'll need to do on the chassis number, not having the plate yet).

Give up and go home now, mate.

France

Pete,

Cheers for your reply, I will give that a go.

However I am not sure to take your last comment "Give up and go home now, mate."

Daniel

( I will try and chase BMW France and c if they can come up with another solution)

PS where would you get those minor modifications from :
Headlamps have been perm adjusted to dip left (not done), side repeaters are fiited (already there), the speedo shows MPH (not done), the rear fog is on the right (or is it left - durrr, blonde moment) (erm that is on the rear bumper, so all OK) and the rear seats have seatbelts (yep I've got that).

It is an European model for crying out loud, the specs should more or less the same.

But this hassle is still worth the money saving I made from purchasing it from France)

The "give up" comment... well, just be ready to pay for paperwork, wait ages and generally wade through red tape. I sold my TT rather than pay for import - but then I had loads of duty to pay as it would have come from Switzerland, outside the EU.

The fog light does need to be in a specific place (centre or left/right). I don't know about the mph thing (where or how to get it done) - but whatever work you get done, keep the recepits. The VCA will ask for these as proof that these things have been done.
