Can we expect Mini's price to go up $500 every year in the USA?

By the time the next-gen Mini comes out the MC will have a base price around $19,000 and the base price of the MCS is going to be around $23,000 if the current trends continue.

A 2005 loaded MCS with a automatic tranny is going to cost someone close to $27,000 as it is, but they still wont have any problems selling them here in Socal.

That's true, they probably will be that much. But how much will your cost of living or salary go up by then? Inflation is what keeps it all in check, and IMO, I thought the $500 increase this year was amazing considering many speculated that it may go up 4%-6%.

Motor On.

I think we should count ourselves lucky we don't have to pay UK prices. The base cooper s in the UK is about $28K with the current exchange rate.

it's amazing it only went up 500, considering the weakness of the dollar to the pound and euro...

Yes. And they have since 2002.

I consider it a benefit to residual value. My car is now worth about $700 more just because of the increases for Jan '05, and that offsets any value it may have lost from depreciation, not a bad deal.

And I think your $ for an Auto MCS is low, its probably more like $29,000 with a Nav system added in.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

It should be more like $5000 considering how far the dollar has moved since it was launched!

Same here in Holland... Prices of Cooper S starts at 28K euro's, so that's I think even more than $28K.... They wanted to level the prices in Europe of cars, but than they take the price of a car in Holland without BPM, but the BPM is about 20% So not really nice here either...

But it doesn't stop me from buying a new Mini Cooper!

if Mini adds AWD and a 5-door hatch options to the next-gen mini we coud looking at spending $30,000-$35,000 for a loaded one in 2008 and crazy California dealers will add another $5000 markup over that.

Go light on the options then, I suppose. Mine will be right under 23k.

When you consider that the average new car MSRP is over $28,000 now (ref: Motot Trend 2003 article) the Mini still remains an excellent value IMHO.

Even with the MCSC coming in at about 31K, compared to any other performance-oriented, 4 passenger ragtop, it's easily 10K cheaper than any competing product. And with residuals the highest in the market, the car continues to be an incredible value.

I did when I bought my 2004 MC and was able to keep the price right around $18,000 and I had to buy it out of state to do it.

Most people out here in Southern California buy loaded MC and MC's and most dealers out here charge an additional $2500-$5000 dealer-markup over that so you can figure that people are paying aound $25,000 for a MC, $30,000 for a MCS and nearly $35,000 for a MCSC.

I was patient enough to wait it out with East Bay MINI that charges MSRP, nothing more, nothing less. Excellent buying experience and I was able to keep my Cooper at just a tiny bit above $20K. I'm just glad I got mine when I did, especially with the new design changes and price increases in the future.

Let's Motor!
