Angry Jealous B******S

Just went out to go for a drive and what did I find?

Some ******** has writen on my roof, front passengar wing and both passengar side windows with a permanent marker

Why?

There were lots of other cars out there, but they haven't been touched (good for their owners, bad for my blood pressure) so it is obviously jealousy

Right, where's the number for that South African flame machine?

What a ****e thing to have happen, but don't worry toooooo much....

Permanent markers are usually alcohol soluble, so it should be relatively easy to remove. A diluted solution of methylated spirits (I'm guessing a bit here, but probably 30% meths, 70% water) should probably remove it, but will also remove the waxes. You could also use petrol to do the job, but don't try using the South African flame thrower at the same time! Oh, and have a dry cloth as well as the one with meths so that you don't spread the mess too far.

just be thankful it wans't NitroMors!

Thanks both!

One deep breath and some logical thinking later (difficult givin that my blood was boiling!) it appears to have gone.

Used some de-icer and a soft cloth, followed by lots and lots of water and, from what I can see under the orange street light, it seems to have come off.

Have to wash it properly and give it a bit of TLC in the morning

At least it wasn't done with a key, I guess!

But still - why bother

Angry Jealousy sucks

I know how you felt - I've had two cars keyed by brainless morons. Glad the marker wasn't as permanent as you first suspected. Now that you've had this wonderful experience, I guess we can count on you to apply several good coats of wax to your paintwork, and RainX to the glass, yes?

glad to hear you think you've got it fixed. You might want to seek advice from your dealer about re-waxing it, especially if you've got de-icer over any large area. Also, the solvents in a wax/polish will probably get rid of the last of it....

For future ref wd40 works well removing permanent marker plus less harsh on the paintwork

These posts are insane. I feel terrible for you guys, and pretty worried about my purchase. I want to get some sort of video surveilence system figured out!

I can't, and you can't kill your self worring about your car all the time, but idiots don't make it any easier to sleep.

I've sprung for a garage (upgrade over my surface parking spot) and maybe that'll help a bit. I dunno.

hi noahe. unfortunately, a garage will not always work either. a few weeks ago, someone kicked a hole in my garage door, climbed in and took the cd changer from my car. the cars were not stolen, but it sure makes me feel uncomfortable about keeping my MINI in there when i get it this summer. they also took my case of coke! there are ways to make your garage more secure, depending on how much money you're willing to spend.

It was just graffitti tags on the body, and random swirls on the windows

Just parked on the road outside my flat.

Must say something about the car if they singled this one out to tag and leave all the others alone

Well, now it's been washed and polished, something even more annoying has come to light...

The tip of the marker pen has rubbed the dust on the car along the tag, so even with no ink left on the paint the tag is still clearly visible

Which is nice...

The body shop at my dealer is going to have a look on Wednesday when it's in for something else and give me the bad news...

All in all, not the best weekend in my life
