I've spoke to the people at Modelsport and at the moment the only way to get a MINI Mini-z Racer is to buy a car with a different bodyshell and wheels and them buy the MINI bodyshell + different wheels/tyres if you like.
P.S. these run out of the box (no building/setup) and you can race upto 6 at once according to the info.
Currently driving: Silver Volkswagen Lupo GTi, 6 speed, 125bhp
I was planning to get one of these for a while. These are widely popular in HK so many parts and accesories are available for it, but I'll have to wait until next time I go back to get one. That EB look alike shell in the second column second roll looks quite good
they recently came out with a 360 Modena Mini-Z car too which comes in yellow, silver, or red. I will most likely get a red one and purchase a MINI shell along with it.
hey Ady, which one is the classic on you speak of? If so, I would want do consider that too since Tamiya shells are usually higher in quality and detail.
There is another radio controlled car available, that is very cheap at only £15. I,ve seen it at modelzone and some toy shops. Not sure of the make though.
Karman S, They did and i think still do a classic mini kit which is 10th scale and frontwheel drive. The one i have is battery powered but i believe that they now also do one with a Glo Engine. I do hope that they will be doing a new MINI kit as i enjoyed building the first one and will paint it to match my future car.
Thanks for your reply, Ady. Just went through the Tamiya '02 catalog and noticed that the electric (#58211) and a glow engine classic Mini (#44021) kits are still available. It would be nice if they have the new MINI shell available to clamp on the same chasis. Painting to the exact color combination of your MINI is a good idea!
and it's a blast!!! I haven't had an R/C car for at least 15 years and had forgotten how much fun they are. I painted my Mini red to match my new "S" but will definitely rebody it if a MINI becomes available. I'm thinking about getting another so my daughter and I can race them against each other.
Got mine from ehobbies.com for $89 plus shipping.

Heres a couple of good quality images of the Mini Z bodyshells for you to have a look at. They are very well detailed, and look great on the chassis.
I am currently trying to source the Mini Z range of products and hopefully will be able to offer these for sale soon. I will post again as soon as I have a confirmed price and availability.
I've had one for about 8 months or so, and can attest to the fact that they are an enormous amount of fun. Mine is used a lot around the office, where we race in and out of desks and generally terrorise other people in the office.
I'll definitely be ordering the Mini shell, to replace my current VW Beetle shell.
