Smile Another new guy

Just bought a used 2002 Mini Cooper and I love it. This is a great website. I've searched the site and i cant find a answer to a question I have. How can I tell what kind of suspension do I have? standard or sport? any way to tell? The car handles like a dream, and the power is nice. I also have a mustang cobra with 390 hp and this mini still feels fast. Anyways thanks for letting me say hi

It currently has

17 inch wheels with run flats

DSC

6 CD changer

Driving lights

here's a link to my other baby

George,

Sharp looking Cooper!! Welcome to the club! I wish I had a good answer for you on the suspension. I know I have seen other threads on here about it, but can't recall the solution (if there was one). But again, welcome and great looking Cooper!

hi and welcome, nice looking MINI, very shiny.
think i read a post about your problem a while ago, i think if you turn wheels to full lock, then look throught the arch, i think the sport suspension has a S sticker on. i think that's what i remember reading,
sure someone who does know will leave a post here.

This is quite old, but might help:

Found this in a MUCH earlier MINI2 thread:

"The Sport and Sport Plus suspensions for the Mini Cooper shows different front and rear struts/shocks and different front and rear anti-roll bars according to the BMW parts technician in our Mini of Murray, Utah Mini Club. Springs do vary slightly with optional equipment, but are the same between Sport and Sport Plus. Mounting points are the same as well. Rear anti-roll bar bushings are the same, but the fronts are different.

Here's a parts summary:

Front:
Anti-roll bars:
Standard - 16mm 31 35 6 757 071 w/ bushing 31 35 6 757 069
Sport - 22.5mm 31 35 6 757 072 w/ bushing 31 35 6 757 146
Sport Plus - 24mm 31 35 6 758 301 w/ bushing 31 35 6 758 302

Struts:
Standard - 31 30 6 759 243/244
Sport - 31 30 6 759 245/246
Sport Plus - 31 30 6 759 247/248

Rear:
Anti-roll bars:
Sport - 16mm 33 55 6 754 818
Sport Plus - 17mm 33 55 6 754 819"

Welcome to the forum

About the sports suspension. I'm not sure of the package options in the US, but here in Europe you get sports suspension in the same package you get the rear spoiler. You don't have a spoiler so I guess the answer is no then But I could be wrong ......

Enjoy your driving though

Yeah really - that's too sweet a car to stay there motionless for too long
