Attention dealers in states close to california or in california... I would have my name on the list at East Bay Mini, if the list wasn't 13 months long for a custom built cooper S. I may end up putting a deposit over there anyway. The sales staff is super cool and knowlegable. Also they are selling at MSRP!!! Anyway as most of you have probably read, most california dealers suck because there are tons of nutballs that are willing to pay > MSRP. I am not one of those people, but I really like the car and am willing to buy it out of state and drive it back here. I would prefer driving it back from one of the surrounding states. So what do you think guys and gals? Am I screwed? Should I just wait like a good little boy? Anyone with experience from from california "area" ( surrounding states ) dealers or if you are a salesperson let me know what the deal is. Thanks!!

Unfortunately, you're a little late getting into the game. People have been queueing up for MSRP at Rassmussen MINI (OR), Northwest MINI (WA), MINI of Murray (UT) and Ralph Schomp MINI (CO) for close to a year. Some people have been going cross country to Westchester MINI (NY) to get a quick 'S' fix ... although these may be unspoken for pre-specs. ![]()

I hear they're selling them at MSRP in Honolulu. There'd be the minor issue of shipping costs since driving it home might prove a bit awkward, but a heck of a lot more fun of a location to go pick up your car at than at any of these "Rassmussen MINI (OR), Northwest MINI (WA), MINI of Murray (UT) and Ralph Schomp MINI (CO)," or pretty much anywhere else in the US I can think of for that matter.

I've made that drive from Colorado to S. Cali (and N. Cali) a couple of times...and it may not be Hawaii, but it's a great drive - you go through Las Vegas, for goodness sakes?! I'm getting my MINI in Memphis, TN at Roadshow MINI. I live in Alabama so it'll be a little drive...but it'll be worth the motoring since I'll play MSRP and will probably get a MINI in about half the time than the Atlanta dealers. I signed up on the list in the end of April. I'll take what I can get! Good luck! Shpass! Yellow and Black, 17" wheels - GRRR Baby...I love my MINI!

Vegas is cool (going back next month in fact), and I would have suggested going there for a MINI, but they're dealership is one of the gougers apparently. I just like using the excuse of getting a MINI for going to Hawaii. In fact, you know, I posted that as a joke, but the more I think about it... I wonder what Matson line is charging for shipping a car these days? After all, its not like any MINI in Hawaii won't already have good sealegs.

Mini Northwest has a number of pre-spec (or as they call them 'stock') S's comming in. You don't get to choose options, but there may be S's available in less than 20 months. When I put the deposit down on my Cooper, it was because it was a while until an S with the option I felt I had to have was going to come in. The guys there are cool and selling at MSRP. ____________________ Indi Blue Cooper (Mostly Loaded) Arrived 06/07/02 Left 07/13/04 and was replaced by: Indi Blue Cooper S (Fully Loaded)
