I got my cooper today))
and wow is this car fast. its REALLY hard to keep it going slow .. its just asking for more and more speed. Only drove a bit, but wow am I happy. I picked my wife up from work and she was super happy as well. we are both VERY excited! this looks to be an incredible purchase for us ! (this is our first car too!!)
Going to post some photos in a few days maybe .. though its the BRG with the white roof + sunroof which I am sure you have all seen photos of before. The color is divine by the way ..it REALLY gives the cooper a lot of class in my opinion. oh the car smells of new leather.. god i love that smell!
hehhee everyone in the street was looking as i drove by .... really cool and happy day for me!!
so far : no problems at all other than a really strange whisteling sound when i turn the streering wheel (i could hear it well when i was parking the car) - though this might be how it sounds i have no idea.. anyone else know anything about this?
spanky2k: thanks for the info. glad its "normal" noise.
a new thing though came up today:
Since I got the car yesterday, I have smelt a burning smell which seems like the smell of burning oil or something. when i parked the car and got out and turned the engine off - there was some smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. not a lot .. but it was coming out after the engine was off. it was grey smoke .. smelly.. but not black. anyway, i called the BNW service, and they connected me to the tech people and he said that BMW wax many of the engine components and the smell I am getting is the heating up of that wax - he said that is normal and it will go away in a few days. I am getting no engine heating warnings, and i checked the coolant level, and also looks right where it should.
is this normal or are they pulling my leg or something?
Don't worry Lorien, quite normal for the wax to burn off, if it lasts more than a couple of days then it might be worth checking, but otherwise just get out there and enjoy. Photos when you manage it
The eagle never saved so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow.
Congratulations Mate.
Glad you finally received your car and that you are enjoying yourself.
About the car getting dirty quickly, I am constantly cleaning dead flies off the front of my car. There are alot of insects this time of year in the UK and my car seems to be hitting most of them.
