Help! Which car is really which? (in Mini PR booklet)

Okay...not sure if other countries have the same Mini booklet we
have here in the U.S.

And, I know this question won't be too easy for those not currently (or recently) purchasing, as they aren't likely to have the latest big booklet
describing the Cooper & S.

But my hubby & I are stumped to say just which color cars are which
on a few pages, & could really use your help!
We like some of these images,
and would be helped knowing which color cars these truly are.

However, perhaps these are just total marketing 'bull'?
Colors that perhaps only exist in someone's imagination?

The main questionable ones are:
The page spread that says: "Let's feed the Mini Cooper a steady diet of automotive steroids" where there's a blue/white S coming at you. (or purple...probably HB)

Thought this was Hyper Blue, based on the purple S
one sees a few pages earlier,
at the start of the Cooper S section. (just a piece of that car)

And, also, the graphics on the "Steroids" page...looks like royal blue.
BUT...
the blue shown here is so very different from the Hyper Blue car shown earlier in the book (twice) w/a black roof. Could a black roof SO alter the tonal elements of Hyper Blue?

However, clearly there's another Hyper Blue/White pictured later...the very last page, next to an orange convertible.
Again, this looks like a flat blue paint, more than metallic as shown on the "steroids" page!! What gives?

Or is the "steroids" page actually supposed to be Purple Haze/BEP?

If so, I'm assuming this is a fictional rendering of this color,
since most have said it's more like a navy blue, most of the time.
(and that's what I've witnessed too, thus far)

The other big page spread which we were debating about is further back...where they are taking apart the car. See the spread: "Let's turn the engine sideways."
This section clearly only moves between the CR & HB cars for comparison of options, etc., so this one I'm quite sure is indeed HB.

However, again, they almost used a purple/royal blue color graphic on the page...again,
confusing the issue.

This can all seem unimportant, but I guess my big question is:
Does any car really look like the car on the "Diet of Steroids" page spread??
If so, that just may be 'my' car! :-)

However, we're not sure that that car exists.
HB just looked flattter to me in person,
when I caught it late yesterday w/a black roof. (hubby hasn't seen it yet)

But, clearly I've get to catch it in full sun & with a white roof, soon!
Thanks if anyone here can decipher this darn booklet's images ... :-)

I learned when making my decisions that printed and on-line images of MINI colors are useless. You have to see them in person...especially Hyper..Cool and Purple.

Peter..who ordered LY and could not be more happy..in Denver

Peter...

Glad you're thrilled w/your LY.
I've seen several striking ones at the dealerships recently.
Quite a "wow" car!

Are you saying that Hyper Blue looks cool & purple to you?
Or, that I need to see both the HB & Purple ones in person?
Sorry, but curious if your impression is that Hyper Blue has some purple in it, too.

I've seen Hyper Blue in person quite a few times and would definatley not call it a "navy blue". Sitting alone, outside, I thought it was pretty "royal blue"... not nearly as light as the electric blue by any means, but you could def. see the metallic/pearly nature of it. Next to an Indi Blue the Indi Blue looks very "navy" and the Hyper Blue looks brighter. In semi darkness (very late club meeting ) under parking lot lights the Hyper Blue looked navy blue, and the indi blue just even darker.

I saw a really cool pic the other day on NAM with all 3 blues in it... courtesty of NAM user blacknblue

You really have to see them in several light conditions to get the idea of what they really are.
Assuming a moderately bright day :

INDI Blue is a dark almost Navy metallic
Hyper, shades lighter, not quite royal blue metallic, not intentionally purple
Black Eye Purple, a purple version of INDI plue but with a flip almost.
Electric Blue, faded denim sort of metallic

The printing process will inevitably lead to some confusion as to colours.

The dealers should have real paint colour discs to show you if they have not got cars on the lot or in stock

Thank you for that photo!

Appreciate you sharing that image. :-)
I'm guessing the one in back is either Indi Blue or Purple?

Actually, I didn't mean to question if Hyper Blue looks navy.
Rather, the purple one looks navy a lot, from what I hear.
But, from this booklet...
none of the colors seem accurate.

Looking forward to settling the 'mystery' this weekend.

As much as I love that pic, its not mine. It was presented as being of the "3 blues" so I'm pretty certain the back one is Indi Blue.

I'd have to agree - the Purple does look quite navy.

I wouldn't be surprised if none of the colors look accurate. The MINI site has notoriously bad color representations, so equally bad color in the print wouldn't surprise me. In person is def the best judge.

I'd find your local club and ask if they can line up an EB, IB, HB, and PH ... I know you're not considering either EB or IB, but it would help for comparison. We've ended up with all the blues lined up next to each other at club meets so I'm sure you could wrangle them all together out there too!

Oooo...and goonery...

Thanks for the further verbal descriptions.

When you say a "flip" is in the Purple...
I gather that's when it really alters itself,
in an irridescent way?

Are flip colors considered too 'bling' by most?
One person wrote that the purple one was almost too 'pimp' for his tastes.
(I'm guessing that was in reference to this flip color thing?)
I'm not familiar w/flip colors, really.

BEP has a what i call 'Hint' of a flip to it, its not drastic like on the intentionally flipped paintjobs that go from say red to green or whatever.
When its really clean on a sunny day it looks stunning, but its not found many customers so far.

Thanks for the further info

Thanks for clarifying your comments. :-)

Yes, I'm guessing the color won't be offered too, too long...
not if it doesn't get many customers.

And, that adds to my tough decision-making.
Pepper White like Chile Red may be around for a long time...
so I could order it later. But, Purple, not likely.

Hyper Blue, too, is likely to stay for a while.

But, then, again, I've heard Indi Blue was quite popular, & yet,
still they discontinued it. So, who really knows, huh?

However someone wrote me & said they think the purple is esp. flattered by a black roof, as the white roof might be too flat w/it. I did notice that w/BRG.
I recently saw that w/a black roof & I thought it brought out the sparkles more than a
white roof, did. And, this person indicated similar. (that the purple is quite 'sparkley')
But, with purple being so dark...
I just figured that a black roof wouldn't show up at all.

Gosh! Choices, choices!
Fun, but oh-so-challenging! ;-)
