Offline | Would you do white wheels (looks-wise...not cleaning-wise) w/the following...? Still debating between a BEP/Purple Haze with White Roof or a Hyper Blue w/White Roof. Got a couple of days extension... gift or curse?! ;-) Would you do white wheels with either one? I think it might go more w/the BEP one than the HB one, which I think could slide by (since it's already quite 'bright') and we will have chrome mirrors to start on either one of them, since we're getting the chrome exterior. (and my hubby likes the chrome mirrors quite a bit) I'm ambivalent on them. Anyway...thoughts on white wheels as far as whether they make the 'look' ... clash or are TOO bright... or, whether they could alter the color in some bad way? I think the purple car could use brightening, truth be told. But, not having ever seen it w/white wheels in person...I'm not sure of the effect of the flat white paint on its color tone. Would it actually somehow make the purple look darker? (not what I would want!) Or, does it somehow make the purple elements become clearer? (vs. blue) Perhaps some of you have seen in person a BEP w/silver wheels vs. white? (with white roofs) Could use your wisdom again, now. I'm torn... I want to make the car 'sing'... and yet, am worried that I'm about to do the opposite. Appreciate your patience w/this stuff... :-) take car, Rosmary |

Offline | I would not do white wheels, they will get dirty in a hurry, and then they look grey and white, which just looks like rubbish. Here are some photos, just in case you didn't find the ones I was talking about... RM Drive Fast! Drive Sideways! |

Offline | Seen white wheels on darker minis with white roofs and mirrors, and it looks great. On the lighter colours, or without the white mirrors i dont think it loooks as good. Im having white wheels on mine, so got to say i think you should go for it! ![]() |

Offline | Not sure which are x-lites...? I'm torn between the 15" ones (7 hole...sort of look like swiss cheese I say, but not in a bad way) and the 16" runflats that are sort of a 5-star design... lean a bit towards the 16 ones for grip |

Offline | X-lites are the wheels that are in my signature ![]() 16" 5-star are great too. I had them on my first MINI. The black car in the background of my signature ![]() I don't think they look too good in white though. Offline | Besides the cleaning issues, I think white wheels just look odd. Its 'unique' enough to have a white roof, the white wheels seem a bit over the top, because well, white wheels are just rare. I figure there's enough exterior quirks without the wheels being special too. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | YOU NEED WHITE WHEELS! Iv recently had my wheels painted white and iv found they dont actualy get dirty that quick. Thay might look slightly grey. But if you stick with the silver wheels there basically grey anyway. In my opinion, White roof = White alloys. Your two body colour options would look awesome with white wheels. |

Offline | Thanks, guys!! :-) Looks like the white wheels are winning, eh? ;-) I've been hesitating because like some here...I was wondering if they put the car, just too over-the-top? But, on the other hand, I've seen the alloys looking mighty drab at times also from brake dust...and so...have been torn. Would you still go for white, even if I get the 5-star pattern, which someone here didn't prefer in white? (as much as the 15" ones, which I certainly understand & can see) I'm getting a white roof w/sunroof... not sure if that matters (as it removes some of the white). (as far as whether to go w/white wheels) On the other hand..I figure there's a white & black thing going on there... and there would be w/white wheels & black tires, too! :-) Lastly, does ANYBODY here w/white wheels & roof have chrome mirrors? My hubby loves them..and I'm thinking it might highlight the chrome on the front of my Cooper...tie that in, somehow. (getting the full chrome exterior) Even with a white roof/wheel thing going on... But, alas, I've found none yet in the gallery, for comparison. I do realize that most that do white wheels & roof, also, have white wheels. Truth be told...call me crazy, but when I spec things out on the website... I'm leaning towards maybe one day having a BEP/White roof & wheels w/checkered mirrors & maybe even black w/white pinstripe bonnet stripes . (one day) ;-) Thought it could make it all pretty playful! Seem to prefer the black stripes almost...it's odd. Never would have thought so. But, then again, the website colors are so far off, who knows 'til later. And, to start...I just want to keep it 'classic' & simple. Perhaps the checkered mirrors would just be dizzying, eh? And, my hubby thinks they might be just too 'out there'...but, we'll see. ;-) Also, I thought both the mirrors like that, coupled w/black & white bonnet stripes, might tie in the white w/black sunroof, as well as the white wheels w/black tires... IF I end up going for them. :-) Based on what you all have advised for "looks-wise"... I do realize that they are extra work to keep clean ... then, I'm going to trust you for the majority vote, I think!! Just hope they aren't too contrast-ey... I mean, I'm not in my 20's so hopefully, am not going too overboard on this as far as flash goes?? (later 30's, btw) ;-) My hubby thinks a white roof & wheels (as I do seem to lean towards them) might make my dark Cooper more visible & safer on the streets, too. Maybe so. This came up, as I began to debate whether black is actually a better roof color to get w/Purple...only because the purple is metallic & the white paint, so flat... I wasn't sure if it clashed, too much? Or, somehow takes away from the purple? Anyway, thinkin' out loud here. I'm soooo excited that I'm sooooo close to my final order !! Just going to confirm that Purple is definitely "me" by tomorrow & which wheels to go for. Unfortunately, no dealer near me seems to offer 15" & 16" auto cars, for me to compare. I can't drive stick...so to feel what the tires feel like...I'm sort of stumped. :-{ Sometimes I think the 15" in are more playful & cute in white...esp. w/an unconventional color like Purple. (if that's where I go...which I think I am) But...I have really liked the seeeming grip I've felt w/the 16's... and all the salesguys claim the runflats are just nicer for women to have. (peace of mind) But, I'm not completely sold on this. (clearly they wouldn't mind the extra money either) ;-) So...any more thoughts? You all are the greatest!!!! Thank you so much! :-D |
