The good news
:
After getting advice from fellow M2ers and elsewhere on the internet, after visiting several dealers and revisiting and revisiting to look at options in the flesh, I've come up with the ideal spec for my S convertible.
My ideal spec:
MCSC
HyperBlue, Black roof
Chrome Radiator Grille & Boot handle
Upholstery half leather, all black
Black door casings
Anthracite dash & door trim
Chrome line interior
Auto Climate Control
Height Adjustment for front passenger seat
Heated Front Seats
3-spoke sports steering wheel
harman/kardon HiFi
Chrono gauges
DSC III
Alarm
The bad news
:
Waiting (and waiting and waiting) times for a MINI Cooper S Cabrio at my two nearest MINI dealers have blown out to September and November.
The great news
:
At my nearest MINI dealership, another customer ordered a MINI months ago, but couldn't pay for it when the time came.
Here's his spec:
[differences are marked in blue]
CoolBlue, Blue roof
Body color Radiator Grille & Boot handle
Upholstery full leather, dark blue
Dark blue door casings
Body Colour dash & door trim
Chrome line interior
Xenon Headlights
17inch Wheels
Wind Deflector
Auto Climate Control
Height Adjustment for front passenger seat
Heated Front Seats
3-spoke sports steering wheel
harman/kardon HiFi
Mobile Phone Prep
Chrono gauges
Rain Sensor and automatic driving lights
DSC III (dynamic stability control)
Alarm
It's not my preferred colour (but it is my second choice).
Its got all the options I wanted (except a bit of chrome).
It's got a few options I didn't want, but none that I can't live with (full leather, xenons, phone prep).
And most exciting, it's ready to roll now! (not the end of the year).
So I went to the dealer, inspected the car, haggled, shook the hand, signed the paper.
I drive it away at the end of the week.
After all I'm only human.
I'm a little excited
