United-States Opinions requested re: 3M Autobahn "Chip Guard" - Yeah or Nay???

Hi - I'm picking up my new S tomorrow and need to decide if I want the 3M chip guard on it. We live on the coast of New England so we are concerned about the UV / salt water turning it yellow. Please share your opinions? Thanks!!

I can't imagine operating a car I care about on the highway wthout one.

I've had one on a 96 Olds minivan since 1999. It has darkened...but that's in contrast to a white car.

I just removed it after all that time and after a proper polishing there's no evidence that it was ever there except that the hood is chipped beyond the coverage area.

Peter

Are they a MINI2 sponsor? If not you can't discuss it here?

Just so I am clear, if a vendor/product does not pay to be a sponsor, the general public/users cannot discuss the product?

As for the front end protector.... I am concerned about what it will do to the paint...I did buy them for my lights tho.

Many, many, many of us have Autobahnd here in New England and I think we all recommend it very highly. It will not discolor or turn yellow. The first time you find yourself behind a salt truck you will be thanking yourself over and over.

PKT RKT is a keeper....I ain't putting one of them on until some 5 or six years down the road I come in here and I find great (i.e. NO discoloration whatsoever). Otherwise, I'd just as soon have the front end re-sprayed.
