Brake Pad Life

What is the life expectancy for front brake pads on an 04 MCS? I know it varies with driving style. I expect to get about 30K miles from my original run flats, if that is any clue to how I drive. Thanks.

well you have answered your own question really, my last MCS got traded in the other week to a dealer with 43k miles on the clock and still running the original pads on her, oh and she was checked at about 38k and then she had half the thickness left on the pads

So, there is no real chance they are near gone? Looks like I need another reason to get cleaner pads for my white wheels.

Brake pad use does not depend on mileage directly, but on the number and severity of brake applications. One probably uses more brake pad material driving across the San Francisco Bay area for 50 miles during rush hours than driving a thousand miles accross the mid-western US on freeways.

Another example - I once used up a compele set of new stock brake pads during one 30 mile race session at Laguna Seca Raceway. That was in a lighter weight front-drive car compared to the MINI.

Brake temperature makes a huge difference to the brake wear. Brakeing hard on already hot pads and disk will eat the pads much faster than the same stop on cold pads.
