No you won't! After adding JCW, the poppoppop becomes POPPOPPOP. Deeper and richer sound. I loved the sound of my MCS and love the JCW sound more. It also purrs more at every rpm level, and the scream above 5000 is amazing!

To each his own I guess.

Engine, induction and exhaust noise are one of the most important aspects of the overall driving package of a car.... I can never understand people who buy cars based on how quiet they are? The popping noise on the cooper s is one of my favourite parts of the car... it is hugely addictive. You are clearly someone who buys cars on image and brand rather than for the driving experiance. has it ever occured to you that these "boy racers" use performance exhaust to improve the driving experiance of their cars... better noise and performance.

Why dont you just go and buy a volvo and stop giving mini owners a bad name

No need to get personal over something as trivial as this.

I love the popping. Twenty degrees F out and I'm still rolling the windows down to hear it better!

Anyway, thanks to this thread of mine, I've now been able to name my MINI

Should I tell you all now or wait till I've fitted my stripes and start a new thread
Think I'll wait till stripes are fitted on Tues/Weds

Watch out for the new thread " I'd like to introduce you to............."

tnoy .....you gonna call her poppy or him Popeye lol but promise you wont put pureified Spinach in instead of Optimax gagagaga! - Instead of getting a popping sound you might get a gagagagaga! sound from the exhaust in a popeye stylie - where am I going with this doh!

Its alot more obvious on the 05's now my 04 has done 20 odd thousand it seems to do it more but just love that sound especially when you give it a bit of a rev when standing and then it pops as the revs come back down

When I heard an S with the Miltek fitted it sounds even better ..........wheres my wallet

That pop would have to be up there as one of my all time favourite sounds in the world ever. It is like it is saying hello to you when it does it.

Sorry, but this is making an awful lot of assumptions about why people buy cars and is totaly unfair. I have a recent build standard Cooper (not S) with the new gearbox, and to be honest it is quite a bit noisier above 4k revs than the early 04 build (which I test drove). I'd really prefer that it was a bit quieter like the earlier Cooper, the new noise dominates at motorway speeds and is not quite as refined as the earlier type. If a car makes too much noise, I wouldn't but it. Does this mean I'm giving mini drivers a bad name too?

I've heard perfomance cars and even F1 doing their stuff at Silverstone, and I think the F1s were one of the worst, most irritating noises I've ever heard. After 10 minutes I was reaching for the complimentary ear plugs. And in the pit lane they sounded even worse, with the speed limiting misfire.

It's just a personal thing, I've never 'got off' on the sound of any engine ever. Give me trees rustling in a forest or waves on a beach anyday.

p.s. I'm not having a go at the Cooper S at all, I didn't test one when I bought mine. I'm still tempted to have a test sometime though . But it's more about handling and fun for me, not the image or the sound it makes.

Its all about performance and noise for me--- the only time i want to hear trees rustling is when im flying past them with the miltek popping away

The throaty POP POP POP sound is what made me buy the MCSC over the MC. It sounds great and attracts even more attention to the car. My dealer stated this was how S sounds as standard, not a defect.
Cheers
