| Sounds like an air/fuel mixture problem,I used to get that popping noise on my old Triumph Bonneville when the bike was running too lean, today's modern electronics do all the calibration for the air fuel ratio so i would suspect either a sensor has malfunctioned or you have a hole in your exhaust system, |

| I understand this popping noise is a new "feature" of the 2005 S but I can tell you that I'd consider that to be a defect, not something I'd want in a brand new car. It's bad enough that the boy racers see fit to put the bees-in-a-can exhaust on their old civics. To each his own I guess. J\ |

| How fine it is, that they have chosen to make the 05's really sound like old rally cars! Its especially nice if you get to WOT in 2nd or so, and then let off a bit for a nice tight corner! On the overrun you can imagine Monte Carlo, sliding past the cheering fans!!! It's not really a bees-in-a-can exhaust, its just a bit more free flowing, and the popping occurs more because of the rich fuel/air mixture that MINI's tend to run...or so I was told. Cheers! | I managed to get some quiet popping on my ONE with standard exhaust with the chrome tailpipe. Drove really hard for about an hour, came home sat in the driveway, door open, gently flexing my right foot! ![]() ![]() ![]() Makes me want an S even more now! |
