| MINI2 Regular | Where was everyone then? I only saw one BMW MINI there and it belonged to the the **** in the Hat?? He even parked it illegally and was told in no uncertain terms to get it shifted! ![]() I was expecting to see a pretty fair amount on MINI's afterall if folk can drive from all over Europe (even as far a field as Italy i noticed) in classic 40 odd year old designed cars, i though a couple of hundred miles for most of your BMW owners wouldn't have been such a hardship? ![]() Or maybe it was the weather that put you all off? I know how some of you get a little stressed when the back of the car keeps getting muddy! ![]() Shame on you all! I had to jet wash Brian twice, once before i went and once when i came back to get all the mud and grass off the underside! ![]() |

Offline | Re: Imm2002????? Saw a nice troop of Dutch Mini's taking the scenic route to Comrie along the Langside on my way back from Aberfeldy. Looked like fun. Didn't stop in though Brian as I was in a 7, I'm sure I wouldn't have been welcome. Maybe everybody else felt the same, in which case I'm sure you'll be delighted to have accomplished your mission. ![]() The eagle never saved so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow. |

| MINI2 Regular | It could have been worse! A lot of folk will say the show was crap 'cos the weather was crap! It wasn't so well organised! Either that or it went a bit pear shaped at some point! Plenty too see, not so much to do! If the ticket price had been £15 i think folk would have been a lot happier! It would have made sence to have the doors open to joe public each day and charge them for it too! I met a few irrate folk who were desperate to get in and buy some spares, but couldn't 'cos they hadn't bought a ticket! However not everyone who owns a mini buys the mags or for that matter has internet access! So some locals who spotted all the mini's missed out, 'cos when they turned up they got turned away! I had one guy asking if i could smuggle him in for £15, but i'd already promised my ticket to someone else for the Sunday! I really did expect to see quite a few MINI's though, only BMC seccy was their though, and in typical fashion parked his car right in front of farmers entrace and pee'd off quite a lot of folk! |

| MINI2 Master | On the Lakes run the weekend before last and on the Thistle Run on Saturday, new MINI's are welcome. I take some friendly banter from the other members of my club (The Mini Clan) aimed at me and my MINI from the rest of the members but overall its very friendly! I'm not sure why I feel like this but I will either be in a joint Mini/MINI club or I won't be in a club at all. Being in a club just for the MINI probably wouldn't work for me. I used to have an MX-5 and was in the club for that and it didn't work either - there is just too wide a variety of owners - most of whom haven't a clue what its "about"... Mind you, they all know I used to have and love Minis so maybe that makes the difference. www.miniclan.com |

Offline | I'm all for integration, but it only takes one anti-new MINI person with a grudge to damage your car, and I think maybe people are worried. We missed the Riviera Run for the first time in years this year for this very concern. |

| MINI2 Master | The other point I should make is that to the general public the MINI and Mini are one and the same - its just the new version of it. I think this will end up as the general viewpoint. If anyone gets so worked up about something thats meant to be purely fun like a car club then they need to get a life! To be "anti-MINI" is just nutz - its a car! |

Offline | I WAS THERE I went to the IMM and camped friday and saturday, But as you said there was not enought to do (thats why I got ****ed so much)and did not stay till monday. I also fell while sobber (its True) but the medical caravan closed at 5.30 pm and re-opened at 10 am.(lucky nobody got hurt) Turned out that they could not help me even if they were in (it was a Hospital I needed.Fractured a bone) It was VERY dubby and wet still had a great time and I took me old mota to the event (1971 cooper) and if it had not been ready I would have taken anything but my new cooper because there are too many F'ing ***** that would be more than willing to f*ck it up and spoil my weekend. Its a bit harsh that you have to think about what you drive. There was many non MINI/mini cars there Peugeot,Vauxhall,Ford etc etc. Anyway rant over. Signed zoooooom A TRUE mini MINI fan The IMM was what you made of it. Roll on Italy next year. |

| MINI2 Regular | I doubt any mini owners would ever damage a MINI intentionally! Quite the opposite infact! Thatsa a statement which i have yet to see be proven! The mini went out of production, why would a mini owner therefor spite a MINI owner! I'd think it quite possible a MINI owner would spite a mini owner just 'cos they think they ain't being accepted! I wish this mini owners would damage my MINI statement would be dropped, 'cos its a lie! Pure and simple! |

Offline | I was at the IMM in my blue mini one.(now very brown) Just ask zoom and ginger they will back me up. I saw at least six new minis honest. I did a roughly 600 mile round trip it rained mostly but was fun all the same. I was greeted by a guy driving a scamp now I like all cars but this was bloody ugly (it has mini running gear to the confused out there ) The owner says your not keeping that thing on site to me and my new min. Oh how I laughed as his vauxhall/mitsubishi/peugot driving chums arrived. This IMM was not the best example it just happened to be the first for new mini. I would not base all shows on this cold muddy field experience some are indoors. All i can say is if someone dosent like my car then f**k them if they take life that seriously just pity their children. Ps hows the knee zoom? |

Offline | TALKIN C**P Mini owners damaging MINIS??? I don't think so. OK some classic owners don't like the new car and one or two clubs are not accepting them but Mini owners wouldn't stoop to that level - The whole point of the Mini/MINI scene is that it is a friendly one open to everyone whatever your age/background. I have been going to shows for 15years, and left my cars open with various sound systems on show - nobody has ever damaged of stolen anything. We had 3 MINI's came to our Lakeland Tour this year, did they have problems ? NO, in fact they received a lot of attention and the MINI which followed the Mini's throught the watersplash was cheered on by the Mini owners. Lets all be one big family. Mini/MINI they are both great cars and FUN. Mike. Mini Mad Merseyside |

Offline | Wasnt this thread about the IMM? Yes it looks like for the time being I will have to be a touch thick skinned at shows etc. We will be viewed as the new boy/girl until things settle down. But I for one will not accuse the people who helped me when my mate snapped his leg at mallory park (mini racing festival 2000) of being vandals and thieves. Both our minis were left open with all our kit spread out for the entire evening while we sat in Leicster hospital. I do not expect for one minute I would of returned to find my new mini burned at the steak. There will allways be a far right in every social group but come on there is nothing to be scared of.I see new MINI as a chance for people who wouldnt have had an old min to get involved second time round. not hide and be embarresed. PS saw my old min on the road tonight bloody hell it looks good!!!! |
