| MINI2 Master | Rejected Car - Advice Please My dealer has just rung me and said that MINI have agreed to replace my car with a brand new one on a Like for Like basis, which would arrive around September time and would be on a new 52 plate. I am really pleased about this, however I asked him about the car and that I now wanted to upgrade, paying the difference obviously, to which he said that this was not possible. Now my ideal is to have a Works 'S', which I can get my name down for and pick up hopefully before the end of the year. Do you think that I should now go back to them and say that I want that money put forward for the Works S or should I just take the Cooper? They will put me back into my old car until the new one is ready. |

Offline | Re: Rejected Car - Advice Please That's excellent news ELISEBOY ![]() I think what you a proposing to do is basically what I did. I rejected my car in March and since I was 3rd on the list for an S rather than get another Cooper I decided to wait for the S. As such, I requested for the money to be put towards the S., to which they agreed. However, they have refused to give me a courtesy car to use in the mean time. Despite the service manager agreeing with me that the S is still technically a replacement, try as I might the dealership don't want to give me a car to use. I can see this as being your only major stumbling block. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Order the Cooper S now, keep yours to use until the replacement arrives then sell it to get the S, supply is so low at the moment that used cars with mileage will realise list price, so a used one with little mileage will set you up nicely for the S. | MINI2 Master | thanks M i would rather though that they just put the money towards the Works S, I keep mine and just hand that in in Oct / Nov when its ready. Used car prices are good but could change over the next few months and would rather have a stable confirmed platform to work from |

Offline | Re: Rejected Car - Advice Please ????? Oh yes it is possible!!I have added the 17" "S" spokes, MFSW and auto aircon to my replacement!! I think you need to have a further "chat" with your dealer and tell him to confirm with MINI. |

Offline | The problem is that the Cooper S and Cooper are different cars, so different budgets, production schedules etc etc. The reluctance of your dealer could be due to basically two reasons, 1st: they can't be bothered with the hassle so told you its not possible. 2nd: they spoke to MINI and it really isn't possible to transfer a Cooper rebate to a Cooper S cost. I'm afraid I don't know which is most likely. If your dealer has been good so far there is no reason to suppose they have become bad now, it might really be MINI. If you were upgrading a Cooper exchange that would be no problem, its only complicated by it being a different car. Its the uncertainty of the situation that led me to suggest the other option. And finally, I wouldn't be too concerned about a drop in used values for at least another year or so. PS kjs can you clear your PM box I'm trying to reply. ![]() The eagle never saved so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow. |

Offline | Never thought of that! Your dealer can fit the Works conversion there, so all they would do would be to get you an S and you'd need to cough up for the kit. It may add another element of confusion though, and it all seems pretty mixed up any way Wait and see what customer services say before asking for the cash, and also, it might be a bit mercenary but, there are people who will pay over list for a car if they can have it immediately. You may get on better if you get yours fixed for free and retail it??? Or retail a new zero mile car for an extra grand???? It does go against the grain a bit but it is a matter of supply and demand? ![]() The eagle never saved so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow. |

| MINI2 Master | Right, I have spoke to Customer Service who has stated that I can upgrade to an S from my dealer, but not the Works, basically has to go from them. Do you think I should just get the standard car and look to sell that, or get the S and do the same in order to get the Works? |

Offline | Right, well done, take their offer of the S make sure you can stay in yours and get your dealer to order you a Works conversion for the S when its released. By the way having driven the S I'm happy to suggest that you may be pleased enough with the standard car for a while. Well done with the S swap though, thats excellent ![]() The eagle never saved so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow. |

Offline | I was in the exact same position you are in now and opted to wait for the S. Despite being practically car less I know at the end of the day it will be worth the wait. If you can persuade them to give you a courtesy car, I would get the S. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | well they are letting me keep the old one until the S is ready i have to pay the difference though between the price of my car and the S, just working out what spec and colour i want the standard cooper cost me £15.5k anyway so may just spec it to that price and not have to pay any extra |
