When that regretful day comes for any reason. Do you think having the speedo moved to the steering column due to a chrono pack help the car sell? Do you think many people would look at a centered mounted speedo and not want to buy THAT mini because of it and choose one with a speedo on the steering column? Or would it work the other way and people im general would rather have the speedo in the center?
It's hard to say. Personally the speedo being in the middle is a striking feature of the original mini therefore I wouldn't want the speedo on the steering column.
I'm not sure if everyone appreciates that though.

the first 4 people that look at the car will (by Murphy's law) want it the other way,
whichever way that is. Sell it to the 5th guy and ignore the first 4.
One more question. I have heard bits here and there about a digital speed readout on the tacho, I tried to do a search but did not find much. Is this a option or standard? I am wondering about the cooper s manual in particular. I would see much less of a need to move the speedometer to the center if theres a digital speed reading on the tacho. Can someone please answer this for me? Thanks
