I opted for Rain Sensor on my MCS, soo.......?

Hi, I always though that the visibility pack incorporated the auto light on feature, but after reading a thread about Jauary 2005 production changes, I need to make one thing sure.

I ordered my MCS near the end of January and opted for the Rain Sensor the £85 option as I used to have it on my previous car. Am I correct in saying that all MCS's that have this option (Jan 05 onwards) also have the Auto-light on feature?

I really hope it does, please put me out of my misery

I would go for you will only get it if you order the Visibility Pack. I have ordered the Vis pack on my new un and he explained it now comes with the Vis pack package as a whole.

The Visibility pack includes the Rain sensor and auto lights.

If you only opted for the rain sensor then you won't get the auto lights

BTW, the rain sensor is excellent not tried the auto lights yet though.

EDIT........ ok just re-read the Jan 2005 changes thread, errrrrrr you might get it

Thats what I'm thinking, the thread states its an £85 option and that it has the auto light-on feature.

But It would be nice to know for sure.

It automatically adjusts the speed of the wipers to the amount of rain hitting the screen.
Set the switch to auto and it changes the speed from intermittent to normal to fast or whatever is needed at the time.
Absolutely brilliant

And the auto-light on feature turns the lights on automatically when it gets dark enough.

Nifty gadgets that allow you to focus just on driving you lovely MINI hehehe!

useless tech is a newspaper article about how a lot of people are resisting this effort by the car makers to take the control away from the driver and make everything automatic..Guess i,m old school cause i'll turn on the wipers if its raining and i wont forget to turn on the lights when it gets dark..

I thought it was a stupid, unnecessary frill at first, but upon bringing a friend's MINI in for service, I got that feature in the BMW325 rental car, and it was pretty cool.

Not relevant in 'regular' rain, but in sporadic rain (like I had tonight on the way home) it saves switching the wipers on and off, or using the single wipe feature sporadically. Not a lifesaver by any means, but a nice feature if you have it.

That used to be my view not long ago, but after experiancing the use of it, it was quite nifty.

I also love gadgets, but everybody has different tastes, hence the options list

rain sensors make me crazy

I've got a rain sensor on my VW and would never opt for that gizmo again. Sometimes it seems as though the sensor cant' tell when it ought to clean the windshield. Other times, with just a light drizzle, it want's to go at high speed. Flapping wipers are a distraction I hate. Normally, the only time I go to high speed with the wipers is when there is a torrential downfall. Normal speed and intermitent seems to take care of the rest.

Ah well, just my pet peeve.

My last VW had them, they were fine for me, and when I felt like going in to manual mode, I did. Hopefully the MCS has an overide function

I opted for the visibility pack purely because I wanted the heated front screen. I didn't know anything about the lights on feature until my daughter drove the car. I thought she had left the lights on after switching off the engine. Before I could open the door and check, the lights went off themselves. I didn't realise they were part of the visibility pack .
My car is an 03 One
