Offline | Boot opening I got my new MINI ONE last Thursday and its great. One question though, the boot of the car is supposed to open slightly if you hold down the unlock button on the key for five seconds, however mine does not. Has anyone else experienced this rather trivial but yet still annoying problem. Thanks in advance. |

Offline | Why? What's the point? I mean, why is there an option to half unlock the boot. What was the rationale when somebody at BMW said “I know what; lets make it so that when you hold the button down for 5 seconds the boot half unlocks”. What next? windows that only wind down half way, engines that only half start, power steering that only works half the time (oops, sorry they've already done that one). Go on, tell me it’s something blindingly simple and that I’m a half wit. Half wit, get it! oh never mind..... ![]() |

Offline | I know when you hold the button on the key the boot only opens on to the catch, it does not open up properly, what is the point of it still being on the catch. Isnt the whole point of remote boot openning for it to open. |

Offline | It is a completely useless, I agree, but if it were to open the boot fully then this would prove a useful function. I was just annoyed by the fact that it doesn't work, when its a new car and it bloody well should work. Apart from this minor fault its a joy to drive and a pleasure to own even though it has only completed 196miles. |

Offline | When I hold the remote unlock button down for 5 seconds the boot opens, and I can just lift it open. CMT commented that mine made a funny noise while opening, it was the catch tapping back down on the locking mechanism. So mine does stay open ![]() Only problem I had was the day after picking the car up the boot wouldn't shut But finally rectified it by just pressing the button on the boot and it sorted itself ![]() Not happened since ![]() ![]() |

Offline | My boot even when properly closed and locked can be moved within the frame, and I feel as though it could easily forced open without much pressure being applied. But obviously this would set the alarm off. |

Offline | Mine was the same With some boot catch adjustment, the hatch WILL open fully from the remote key. However; it's still bloody useless and I suggest you do what I did and get it re-programmed to do (the ghastly named) 'Comfort Opening' which remotely opens the windows (and sunroof if fitted) instead. Much more useful. Why is this not the default setting? |

Offline | New grille Yep. The tailgate is supposed to fully release but in the cases mentioned before what is happening is the gate is falling back into the latch. See your dealer to rectify this. A new type rear parcel shelf is now in production. It incorporates a grille about 9 inches by 4 inches, set into the shelf mid-way. This should allow a quicker influx of air into the storage area on remote release of the tailgate and reduce the risk of this problem occuring by preventing the tailgate from being "sucked" back into the latch. |
