I gave a mate on my course a lift the other day and he said it still smelt like new. The car is 19 months old. I never eat in my car and don't let anyone else eat in it either. And smoking is a big no no.

The new car smell in my MINI was nowhere near as strong as it has been in previous cars. So it didn't seem to hang around as long either.

I do spend an average of 2 hours a day in it. Whilst it is garaged at night it spends a good 8 hours every weekday in the Australian sun I figure none of that can be good for keeping a new car smell hanging around.

Same as poki, my MINI sits in the Sun all day.

New car smell was gone quite some time ago.

Some say he loves gaming and that he also loves house work..... All we know is, he's called The ScottyB!

My current car (which I hate) has two saddles and my tallboots in the back seat so it smells like a barn.. which to me I don't even notice anymore... I'll have to limit that in the Mini though.

I don't think it's the "new car smell" as much as the MINI car smell period. I have noticed this in BMW-made autos. BMW is very keen on the way their autos smell and have an entire staff of professional "smell people" whose job is nothing but to select materials that have the right smell or no smell at all. BMW continually strives to engineer every smell out of its interior so it will have less chance of offending someone.

My '98 BMW still had its smell after 6.5 years! Of course, I loved every second of it and once I got in and took a whiff of it, myheart would start racing. A definite case of Pavlov for me! HA!

My MINI has a unique, but different than BMW, smell and I love every second of that as well!

After one year she still has it. They need to make it into a perfume.

I once had a cologne made by Lamborghini, so I wouldn't doubt that the marketing guys at MINI could come out with their own perfume!

Picked my daughter up from school on March 1st in brand new MCS.

Decided to collect a Pizza on the way home to celebrate.

Realised after about 100m that my new car smell had evaporated!!

I am completely addicted to the new car smell (my car is only 2 months old so still has that heavenly scent). I am obsessed with finding ways so that I can recreate that smell outside the car.

Do I need help?

no ur not obsessed...my car is almost 3 years old so it's not surprising that the new car smell is becoming something like old car smell....so have u found any good ways to recreate it? nothing beats getting into your new car and taking a big sniff though....*sigh* i miss that

wils

i got an exhaust because i wanted to make my car sound fast, but its not fast at all, so therefore i am a ricer....
