Retrofit Alarm on 2005 Mini

Hi,

My wife has just taken delivery of her February 2005 Mini One and is getting all protective of it! She didn't get the factory alarm option and would now like the retrofit kit. She would prefer not to get an aftermarket alarm for various reasons - wants to keep it original, doesn't want two keyfobs, soldering / splicing into mini wiring looms etc..

Anyway, I've read several posts stating that minis are now prewired for the alarm but I can't find any wiring in ours and can only assume that this only applies to minis in the USA - can anyone confirm this?

Also, there are two part numbers in the accessory section of the mini brochure - one is for more recent minis - and is £170 rather than £225 - what's changed in the later builds to make it cheaper?

Final question - do the kits now come with a replacement headlight switch rather than a wiper switch now that the low washer fluid indicator is on the wiper switch? If so, I presume that it will also have to have the OBC button if that is fitted to the car.

Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
