EXTREMELY frustrated...!!

This morning I emailed a buddy of mine that lives in Nebraska (this is the location of the Air Force Base that I am trying for next when I leave the UK) and asked him if he had a Mini dealer there nearby and if he has seen Mini's driving about. He said yes he has seen them out and about. So I took his zip code that he gave me went to the MiniUSA site and out the zip in and OH MY GOD the closest Mini dealer is 161 miles away how the hell am I gonna get warranty work done if I need it (crying smiley) without having to drive over 100 miles. I only have to drive 15 miles now to get all I need to get done to it now. This is gonna suck to say the least. I tried to extend over here for other reasons as well but they wont let me stay here in the UK (crying smiley again).

My dealer is about 5 miles away. That beign said, they will flatbed teh car from anywhere in the continental US free of charge back to THEM for warranty service if needed, and give me a loaner. It all depends on the dealer, how much service they provide with the sale. Call around.

That wont do me no good as I have bought the car here in the UK and so I never got the dealers "deals" that I would have probably gotten in the states. But thank you anyways

The road side assistance is form MINI USA. The loaner is a dealership perk.
So your car will get there but you may still be walking.
So very much depends on the dealership.

Why Kansas?
Used to be SAC bases there in days gone by. It appears McConnell is a refueling base now.
Not a lot of twisties in Kansas

Sorry, misread the post.
MIldenhall eh. Nice area, nice roads.

I was at Woodbridge ( since closed) as a kid.
At least you'll be on the proper side of the road

If you have a 2005, you shouldn't have to go to the dealer that often anyway. Just think of it as a fun roadtrip for the little problems, and use the roadside assistance/towing for anything that makes you unable to drive. The fun of the car is worth the occasional hassle of going to a far away dealership, and you're more unique the farther you are, since most people wouldn't deal with the 'trouble' of a roadtrip.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

They grow corn in Nebraska and wheat in Kansas. Basketball is king in Kansas and Football is king in Nebraska.

Having ridden through both Nebraska and Kansas on my motorcycle, you can keep them. The Mini won't be much fun in either unless the backroads are ALL curvy.

There is a saying about Kansas " One Road - 318 miles -11 turns" and damn if it ain't true...

And don't get me started on that corn-bi-product that they call fuel there. I got about 20 mpg on a tank of that crap (shaoud have received about 50 mpg).

I have to agree - my drives through the mid-west are the most boring I can imagine - right up there with some of the Canadian 400 mile flat and straight shots.

You want boring, just drive from Alice Springs, NT, to Adelaide, SA (that's in Oztralia, btw).

Two lanes.

No shoulders.

Straight.

One thousand six hundred and fifty six kilometers.

That's 1,656 kilometers or just over 1,000 miles.

Just remember, it's a nice drive from Offut to Jackson Hole, WY!

A little "warranty secret" for ya....BMW does not seem to discriminate between countries when it comes to warranty service. Ole PKT RKT was bought in Ohio and shipped over here.(France, where there ain't no imperialistic AFBs BTW )....
Anyways, first time to the dealer, he got on his system and I was dreading the "Yes, but...." but instead I got an "I see, you still have over two years left on your warranty".

I came back last month from a little ole sunday drive (tracked it at Monza) and what with hopping over maybe one measly kerb, the exhaust rubber hangy dealies quit on me, changed under warranty no probs......

So me thinks you'll be in good hands, far away hands, but good ones nonetheless.

Did you know the AMOK guys in Italy are in your same line of biz???

Anyways, THANKS for ALL you guys do!

Thats cool but I was told that I couldnt take it to just a BMW dealer it had to be a BMW/MINI dealer where they have trained techs for the Mini to get things done but I could be wrong. I read that on the MiniUSA site under warranty work. It would be nice just to be able to take it to a stand alone BMW dealer as I am sure that there are plenty of those just kickin about in the states. But thank you greatly for the info I hope it remains...
