Angry Sad news for Motorsport

I am trying to get this out as many people as possible, as prressure needs to be brought on North Wiltshire County Council.

It is not just the F3/GT Races at stake, so is the future of the circuit if they cannot host such high profile races. The JCC is being hosted at the same meet as the F3/GT races at some circuits this year. Castle Combe also hosts MiniSevens and Mini Miglia meets as well as the MiniWorld Action Day, they also host Super bikes and various track days, it would be a shame to lose this valuble asset becasue of the whinges of a few.

http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/wil...WS_LOCAL0.html

So pass this info on to all your motorsport / trackday fans and complain to North Wilts Council, before other tracks start to dissapear.

Indeed it is a sad day for motorsport. What with all the politics going on with Silverstone and the british grand prix, we need to all remember that the smaller tracks in the country play an at least important role as the bigger circuits fot motorsport.

Well the best way is to e-mail the county councillors who have responsibility, so if Geist can put a post up here with the E-mail addresses of the 'aggressors' , I'm sure we can mount a MINI2 campaign to hit them hard.
Castle Coombe was the site of my last ever competitive event, its a wonderful circuit and has a great staff and management team. Its not older than the village itself , but has been there for a long time, I'll bet its weekend cottager NIMBY types that are complaining, the locals have live with it for years without a peep.

Heres a link to the circuilt website with e-mail info for all the County Councillors.

http://www.racecar.co.uk/cc/story.asp?ArticleID=87

I'll write some suitably vitriolic lines and post them here so anyone can use them to e -mail the Authoritarian Junta or you can write your own.

Here are some words you could use and the E-mail addy

rwatkins@northwilts.gov.uk

Dear Mr Watkins,

I write in connection with the Noise Nuisance Order served on the Castle Combe Circuit, my reaction is that of complete and utter disbelief. Based on the facts stated on the Castle Combe Circuit Website, I would request that you and your colleagues reconsider this decision, and with the support of your colleagues make a motion to withdraw this petty restrictrion as soon as is practically possible. Castle Combe Circuit is one of the best examples of its type in the whole of the UK, its facilities are excellent for both competitors and spectators alike, to jeopardise such an asset to the area because of what appears to be a few 'weekend Out of Towner's objections is incredibly short sighted. I would urge you and the council to reconsider the decision and if absolutely necessary take scientific and verifiable readings with noise monitoring devices before any further action is taken.

Sincerely

I haven't been to the coombe for a few years but unless I am mistaken there were very few houses within earshot of the circuit have they built some more over the last few years? if so is it not NWCC who gave permission for the developments knowing full well there was a very active circuit nearby which coincidently should of been pointed out to purchasers of any property nearby by the relavent seller, agents etc..... Surely if you purchase a house near a motor racing circuit then you have to accept there will be noise for a few days through the year, it's not as if it's every single day or every weekend for that matter.

Thanks for bringing it to the attention of mini2 have some rep

I now have Mr Watkins home address and that of a local farmer aquaintence, who, by sheer chance has one of those new tanker things that can be towed behind tractors for what I believe is called "muck spreading".

Cheers Goonery,

I could not get on the Castle Combe website last night, I had heard on local TV that the ban was a possibility, but it was confirmed when I saw a local paper last night.

Managed to get on the Castle Combe circuit website

Here is a template and a list of all the email addresses of the North Wilts Councillers

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re. NOISE NUISANCE ORDER – CASTLE COMBE CIRCUIT

It would appear that the concerns of a few people living in the vicinity of the above motor racing circuit have resulted in the raising of prohibitive regulations that can, at best, only result in the reduction of the enjoyment of many thousands of motor racing fans.

I do not believe that the imposition of this order is fair and just and would like to register my objection to it.

The grounds for my objection are quite straight-forward in as much that:

· I do not believe that those who have chosen to live in the vicinity of a race track should subsequently be entitled to complain when, on occasion, they can actually hear the cars.

· I do believe that this prohibitive order has a potential to impact badly on the local economy because visitor numbers will almost certainly drop if the highest possible quality motor racing is prevented at Castle Combe. Good quality motor racing, however, is likely to involve more powerful, perhaps noisier cars but that is the nature of the beast.

I would be grateful if you could represent my views and in discussion with North Wiltshire District Council with the aim of having the Order revoked, thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Also below is a list of the Councillor's e-mail addresses that you can copy and paste into your own "To" field to save some typing.

Hope they both help.
