Driveaway door locking

I had an 03 MC until a month ago when I picked up my 05 MCS. I have noticed on my MCS that when I drop someone off and unlock the door to let them out, when I drive away the doors all lock again. I don't think this happend on my 03 MC. Does anyone know if this is the case. Quite useful that it does cao I do always make sure my doors are locked!

The doors lock automatically on my 04 Cooper. They do so when you reach 10mph/16kmh. It's a factory setting that you can have changed but I think it's a good safety feature MINI must have changed the setting between 03 and 04.

I probably didn't explain this properly. On my 03 they did lock when I drove away but I don't remember them doing this again if I had unlocked the car to let someone out, whereas on my 05 they lock again if I have unlocked the doors and then drive away.

I think it's a good feature as there are lots of traffic lights where I live so I don't like being stopped at lights with my doors unlocked.

Yes your right, they have been updated. My new Mini Convertible does the same, locks after unlocking, my 03 Mini One remained open after unlocking

If that makes sense

Btw wildchild you probebly know this but I only just found out - you don't have to unlock the doors to let someone out.. If they pull the door handle twice the door unlocks, I checked in the manual and it confirmed this.

Yes I did know this - but how often have you let people go to use the handle and when it doesn't open first time you can enarly see the panic start to rise! I decided in the end it was quickest to flick the lock open!

Mooyer - thanks for the response, I was thinking it was me going mad.

KPKalle - if you can remember and see what it does, it would be interesting to compare!
