New Mini is Here, Major Problems

All,
You think YOU had it rough waiting for your MC. Mine sat at the dealer for THREE WEEKS while my SO worked out the finer details of auto financing.
Now the real trouble begins. The car is awesome. The car is perfect. The world is not perfect. The world is full of idiots, clumsy Neanderthals waiting to do adulteration my precious MC. The elements are a constant onslaught of rain, sun, and other poisons. Starting the car wears the starter, using the clutch wears out the clutch, you get the idea.
I am ready to dip the car in Cosmoline and put it up on blocks in the garage. I will drive the crappy old MBZ diesel that I wanted to replace so badly.

My first new car, does it show?

Cheers

Rich

I know how you feel. Get out there, get your first stone chip, then get over it and you will be ok. That first nick, scratch or stone chip hurts the worst!

Just remember, the MINI is a car that is meant to be DRIVEN. Yeah, it looks great and all but is raison d'etre is to drive! So a few scratches, dent and dings just shows that you are using your car for what it's purpose in life is.

I remember when I got my brand new Jeep Liberty with leather seats and all 3 years ago. It looked so beautiful, but I had to keep reminding myself that it's a JEEP! Meant to toe and haul stuff, go through snow and mud etc... Now it has a few scratches from hauling stuff from house renovations to the dump, going 4 wheeling a bit etc... (though it still looks nice). But it feels good knowing that the car is actually getting used!

My wife thinks the exercise is good as I park the car 2.2 miles from the entrance of wherever we are going, to avoid dings.

Have you started walking around the car every time you get back to it after being away for a few minutes just to make sure everything is as it should be? I park out in the boonies as well, and you know something? It never fails that some idiot will park right next to me. I think it must be some kind of conspiracy or something .

The first months..

...are not easy I know, I have been just like that. When I got my first stone chip on my window I was furious . We really love our cars and it hurts when it happens, but u have to accept that it can happen. I try to aviod as much crap as possible, that helps to stay clear of the worst things at least. And if u just keep the car in the garage, that is not good either for some parts of the car. Sometimes it is better to drive it even if u get a stone chip now and then, and to drive it is what it is built for, u should think that this car is made to make u smile and give u the freedom to go where u want to, so try to squeeze as much joy out of the car as possible . My first time of ownership I was very careful and drove it nice and easy, but this summer I will push it harder and have a very good time .

I totally understand

I have ordered a black MCS, and I'm deathly afraid of its getting keyed. I have always chosen white cars because I believe that potential keyers simply don't key white cars. Well, now I'm stepping off into the great unknown. I suppose the less I worry, the stronger I shall become . . .

Still, is there some kind of support group we can all join?

Hang up and drive!

I know if anything happened to mine I'd be gutted even though I already have that first stone chip!

However you just cannot cater for all eventualities - I once got hit by a flying road sign (not in the Mini) and stood no chance. So my fingers are crossed for you that all stays pristine.

Enjoy it while you can.

Ok, I gotta ask...did you have those quotes in hand just waiting for the right thread to come along to use them in, or did you come up with that on the spot? Either way, I'm impressed as hell, you know that? wowwwwww
