Our MINI One failed it's 1st MOT.

Would you believe it!

Rusted and pitted inner rear disk brakes, and something else (cant remember now).

All work is now done and the car passed, but it was a bit of a shock to say the least.

Glad it's not my car!

Oh yes, it's a March '02 MINI One, but I guess that figures with the MOT time.

Would the disk brakes be replaced during a big service etc...?

I had Apple MOT'ed not long after a big service, and it passed without any problem

I only think they'd do that sort of thing if it needed it, and it wouldn't be part of the service, they'd probably check with you and do it if required.

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

I am no mechanical expert but if inner was rusted then sounds like they are not getting used
Sticky caliper?????

Maybe that was the "other stuff", Abi got it all sorted via work so I don't know.

Yes, sounds like the caliper is bound to me too Paul.

My rears on my previous Mini wore away the outer pads in just a few thousand miles - the garage tried to say it was normal and that I would have to pay, when I showed them the inner pad was not nearly as warn as the outer was, they finally agreed it was faulty. They still wanted me to pay for the repair, which would involve replacing both rear calipers, both disks and the pads. I pointed out to them that the car had only just had its first service, that it was unsafe to drive (they agreed) and that I wasn't going anywhere until it was done under warranty. My voice was a little raised but not enough to cause a scene on a busy Saturday morning (the sales department biggest day of the week for moving cars), and they got the hint and did it all for free.....

I would have thought that that should have been picked up at service

Glad all settled now though
