C & D full test of the MCS

Don't know if this has been posted already buy ther is a full test of an MCS in C&D with some interesting figures. They tested a fully loaded DS MCS (all packages).

0-60 = 7.0 s
0-100 = 19.8 s
1/4 mile = 15.5 s @ 90 mph
6th gear 50-70 = 12.3 s
70-0 = 169 ft
skidpad = 0.85 g
MPG (ave) = 21
curb weight = 2767 (boy these guys are heavy fully loaded)

Overall a very positive review with exceptionally high marks given to the car's handling. Comments on how heavy the controls felt (steering) in urban driving. Also, the car feels much larger than it's demansions would indicate. Good article.

Wow, the Cooper S is pretty heavy! What options did the Cooper S have to make it so heavy? B/c I'v heard from other stories around this board that the S weighs in aroung 2500 lbs.

Given my calculations, assuming their weight is WITHOUT driver, they've somehow got about 100lbs of options aside from the 17" wheels.
I've heard the sunroof is 60lbs. I guess the rest of the extra doo-dads weigh around 40lbs. It's possible.

Mine on a competition scale was 2515. This was with 1/8th of a tank (around 1.5 gallons?), wheel and tire combo weighing 18lbs less per corner (72lb savings) and no options.

Add a full tank at approx. 84lbs and 72lbs of extra wheel/tire and you get 2671.
Add a 60lb sunroof and you get 2731.

That's 36lbs shy of C/D's weight, with any other options left to add if they actually weigh anything.

Garfield ,
The remaining weight could be the 17's vs. the 16's .... Think there is about 9 lb difference per wheel when you consider the weight of the wheels and tires?

Apparently you missed it, but my post includes the difference in wheel weights several times. My wheel and tire combo in race trim is 32lbs. The stock is 50lbs. That's where the 18lbs/corner figure of 72lbs came from.

There's still those approximate 36lbs of options I'm guessing the difference is.

My guess is the test car probably had aircon.

Even with the extra weight, the 0-60 time is quicker than any UK test I've seen.

more reason to dump the heavy wheels and tires.
