How to beat traffic jams...

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago, but only just had time to tell you guys.

I joined the A57 (Sheffield Parkway) the other evening to start my usual rush-hour crawl towards the M1. Happened to pull onto the A57 just behind two Police motorbikes riding in tandem. Then noticed two more tandem Police bikes pull on behind me. This promptly lead to my smoothest journey home ever. There's me, with what appears to the rest of the world, with a four bike Police escort! I can see all the cars in front clocking the Police bikes in their mirrors and courteously pulling out of their way, with me sandwiched in the middle. I've never seen so many so many heads swivel to check out the 'VIP' driver in the MINI!!! Suffice to say my usual 20 minute crawl up the Parkway took 5 minutes.

I giggled all the rest of the way home...

Hehe! Very cool!

Did the police bikes indicate anything to you, like get out of the way?

A photo of that would be amazing!

Nope, not a hint.

Turns out they were cruising to the end of the Parkway to wait for the Footie coaches full of away fans for the Sheff Utd game that evening (can't remember who they were playing!).

fantastic

I often try and tag behind a police car but have never had the escort behind

i remember one time by eldest lad had taken the top of his thumb off ( long story) anyhow an ambulance had been called and they took him to the hospital and I had to follow in the car .............. try keeping up with an ambulancethrough town traffic, it's hard work, and everyone thought I was a nutter jumping the ligts etc behind it. We all made it ok though ...... and the happy outcome was the thumb was sewn back on
